Sorry you lost your work guys, it has happened to others as well.

When editing a page there is a 30 minute time-out period. If you take longer than 30 minutes to edit a page it will not be accepted. This is the maximum setting the program allows. I think it is there for security reasons.

The only way around it is to either write your document up in a text editor before hand and then copy and paste or to make sure you at least preview/edit your document within the 30 minute time period.

I'll put up a notice in the Blueseum Setup forum about this.

With regards to logging out and logging in the same thing happens to me, it is obviously a cookie problem. I have not been able to find a solution for this one though.

Once again, apologies, I wish the program that ran the site was perfect but it has its foibles unfortunately.

Bummer for that verbs - I've never had that happen to me as I do most of my stuff in word and then copy in. Bet it was good too - your write-up of the Geelong v Carlton game in 1988 is sensational, to use a Paganism.

Anyway, stretford, verbs, steve, Blueworld, halford, Deano and KK are busy at it, and others have put their hand up like Dannyboy, Wolfy and some friends from our neighbourly sites. It's really not that hard once you get the hang of it - it's data entry really, something that everyone here can do regardless of age...

What should we be calling our home ground? OO as it was known at the time or PP as it is now & was originally?

I've got a 'hotword' setup for the phrase Princes Park which means anywhere Princes Park is written on the site it will link to the Princes Park part of the site (which does not have much in it yet).

If you would like to use Optus Oval though, that is fine whatever you feel is appropriate for the page that is being added to.

Maybe I should make up a another hotword phrase for Optus Oval that links to the Princes Park section?

Don't worry about round 5, I've done that.

I reckon CS or TD depending on the name when the match was played. Perhaps Jars can hyperlink CS to TD or vice versa like he's done with OO/PP.

Been fixing up a few little niggles here and there - as well as adding proper entries for Harry Caspar and Rd 21 2004 - without adding to 1947 much over the last few days. Dale Kickett played at 5 clubs.

Unless anyone thinks otherwise I'll just stick to what's in the match reports, which was CS in 2002.

verbs, contrary to my initial post, I think it's better not to do this in the goalkickers section. Feel free to do it in the Game Review section for those that kick a swag of goals, but I don't think we should clutter the top bit.

Also, have you experienced the Backlinks function at the top of each page? Basically this links to every other page that is linked to the one you're in. If we (( )) each goalkicker then some players are going to have links to just about every game they played, not just the ones where they made a difference.

I take back my Yes vote and make it No - no linking in the goalkickers section (don't need first names then, either).

Any dissenting views?

Ok. I've finished the years 1906-07-08.

I've uploaded the scores for each of the games in these years and I've tried to add to the brief summary that was already there for each of the years.

However, the information is still pretty sketchy, so anyone with access to materials from that era might want to see if they can add anything relevant.

I've done some digging and come across a very brief summary of all the 2001 games, so will do that as well. A lot briefer than the stuff I have on 96 & 97, so shouldn't take as long, though they will not be as detailed.

Round 1, 2001 is done! Just don't expect everything at once!!!!

Still having a lot of trouble fitting everything in, especially the stats section up the top, though I think I've worked out how to do the game summary section.

I've just knocked off 1910 as well as finishing the other years as per previous post. There's a couple of interesting points that came up during inputting the data for this year:

1) The finals system is strange. We lost a semi-final, and went straight through to the GF (although we finished top, maybe that has something to do with it???). Collingwood won and had to win a preliminary final to reach the GF. Someone who knows how this worked might want to put up more info on the 1910 page about how this worked.

2) On the club site, the potted history mentions the that infighting of the previous year continued. I've added the information there to the 1909 page and to the 1910 page, but the details are very sketchy. Someone might want to dig and flesh these issues out, especially as they might have cost us the opportunity of winning 5 in a row.

Other than that, same remarks as per the 1906-1908 seasons - I've added the game results with no reviews, and tried to flesh out a season summary from the info I had at hand. If you have access to more resources a lot more could be done with these pages.

Anyway, update on the completed years:

steve and BW - I really love you guys, in a nice, navy blye sort of way. Great work to the both of you.

steve - the idea of the Project was to get the skeleton up of every year, so the Carlton Historical Committee among others could add the data to ready made pages. this would have made it easier for them, but also meant that some years could just 'live off' scores for a while until it was all done. So we'd love it if people had data on the early years ets. but as long as we get the years started, we're doing OK.

on the finals - it seems as though the Minor Premier had rights of rematches? the whole 'Sectional' round part is worth looking at here too - play each other twice, then that ladder determines who plays each other in some additional final rounds before the finals. Of course in today's age you'd play each other once and then play another 7 teams, but it should be looked at.

Overall, looks like we're within 70 years of completing this - so if anyone has 1-2 hours to spare, please volunteer. With the templates jarusa has set up, it's getting easier all the time

M

The finals series until 1930 was as follows - to the best of my recollection:

1v3 and 2v4

If 1 won, the two winners would play off in a final. If the Minor Premiers won again - that was the premiership. If they lost, they had right of challenge to play a Grand Final.

Similarly, if they lost in the first final, the two winners would play off for the right to challenge the minor premiers in the GF. Kinda unfair, really.
