I agree with you Synbad we are a shambles.

Heard a different story on Power though from someone who definately knows.

Also Power has never played in a side like we have now. He is playing in one of the greatest midfields of all time. Campo at the same age was a better player as he got a lot more of it and was a better kick.

I thought this was a positive thread? Maybe I should read over the first few pages again... Murphy and Kennedy are going to be good aren't they?

OK I think Carrazzo is gonna star in the midfield this year. He was very underated last year and I even think he was in our best 5.

There's something about Carrazzo?

I want to see Blackwell and maybe Hartlett get a game 1st round and Jackson to be elevated from the rookie list. That would be a positive for me.

I'd hate to see that Murphy is the only " new " blood that we will see come first round. I don't want to see 90-95% of the same old failed faces from last year in the first game.... that would be a negative..

You will get the most out of Murphy and Walker when you have blokes like Power... who have been there and done that ... and work dilliegently each time they put on their jumper.

The Game.. your source would have given you the diplomatic answer...

Also i reckon Power would have always shitted on Campo...
Campo was a good midfielder in a side that had Kouta Williams Ratten Brown Braddley...

Take them away and he was shit.

Power hasnt had Lappin Black and Voss for the last year in big chunks and has never underperformed....

As a club leader who would get more respect out on a footy field in the AFL.. Campo or Power???

'So you wouldnt want williams or David Rhys Jones.. or anyone like that???

Geeez you talk utter shyte!!!

So you mean to tell me youd go down the road of the whore who threatens to leave the club unless they get more money.. and has done bugger all .. donesnt go down on you.. doesnt do annything..rather than go after the "whore " that would???

Youre funny... '

and you're chicken little - every time you argue its as if the sky is falling, the end is night, the world collapses...

Now to your points :garthp: Williams could just have been the beginning of the path that led to salary cap rorts and this mess we are in.

I thought even you had seen that the OLD WAYS are gone, but I see you do not believe that. You think we must do whatever we must to get a Williams, a Power, a Judd and hang the consequences - John Elliott would have loved you!

I think we must do what we can afford to do, what the salary cap permits us to do and what the whole drafting/trading scenarios permits us to do - if that lands us a Power, a Williams, A Judd, fantastic, but never again the attitude that we must get so and so whatever the cost! That without so and so we are doomed etc.

Patience is needed - remember that or has your patience already worn thin. This is a long road we are travelling, we are coming from a long way back. Yes Luke Power would be great, but only at a price that is reasonable, and I would deem pick four unreasonable. Lance for Power I would be fine with but obviously it was not to be. So @#$%&! what! Walker and Murphy will still do great things.

Now go flap your wings and put a helmet on...your sky is falling....

And why not split open your 2nd slab for the night and turn your head to ther right when you finally fall asleep so as you dont chuck and choke on your owhn vomit again???

Patient i am.... but im not that patient that i think im going to live forever.

Your whore analogy is childish....

I think you should just continue to double as the site terrible bard and plonk... or single as the site drunk bard....

You dont just sit there and cross your hands waiting for stuff to happen.. you make them happen!!!...

The moeny thing is only shithouse when its going to impotent footballers like Campo Lance and Kouta.. the 3 that have held this club back over 4 years with their softcock approach to the game.

see you're repeating yourself again, keep flapping, that sky must be getting low by now.

You must be awfully quiet in premiership years.

Now go have a drink with JE about the good old days when we could buy whoever we wanted and to hell with the cost.

The whore comparison is childish to you - cut too close perhaps?

dannyboy - you are brilliant.....a rose amongst the bloody thorns

All this negativity and reactive thinking.

Lets be consistent with the discussion. At the end of last year - our so called tanking year - there was a sober acknowledgement that patience was the call of duty. Re-building the club was a much longer process than anyone thought.

The discussion was about kids and developing them over years. It wasn't about bringing anyone else in unless the deal was commercailly right and do-able. It was also about trying to off load passengers. The only palatable exceptions are the likes of Saddington who become calculated choices based on circumstance and hopefully filling a need.

But right now we at TC seem to have gone into a tail spin. As dannyboy says the sky is falling. ...the sky is falling..... for some! I agree it is for those who are born with a sense of doom.

Forget about our financials, political state and the need to build a better, more commercially astute business organisation. This is a challenge that needs considerable debate and change.

However, when we reflect on our position today as a football team/list/department and where we finished 2005, we are moving in the right direction and positive one vs 6 months prior:
1. quality draft choices
2. obvious improvement in the development of fisher, walker, simpson, betts, de luca, hartlett, setanta and aisake based on practice match form
3. 2 new assistant coaches with specific expertise that has been missing
4. a fitter whitnall and fevola
5. more body mass on the players
6. One less of the so called parasites (campo)

Sure we could criticise in certain areas and rue that we missed out on a Power.....but the deal wasn't done.

So for those calling for Denis's head and complaining that we are doomed - get some perspective, get some humour and possibly get a life.

The mantra previously espoused but seemingly lost in short sighted emotion is - watch and they will grow. This year we have a wonderful year to see young kids develop and grow. The future.

Just as HC STARTED this thread, this is a process and a journey. And lets at least get positive. No the sky certainly ain't falling.

The two positives one of which relates to the year 2007 are

We have the best pool of youngsters for as far as I can remember. We finally have ar our disposal some talent which will eventually counter balance the lack of leadership at the club from our senior players

The second biggest positive is that we will finally remove that $1 milion dollar noose from around our necks in the form of Kouta's contract. No player is worth a sixth of the teams total salary. We put too many eggs in the one basket without a performance clause. Criminally negligent in my books.

i appreciate Cammo too....

But back on the topic.. we do have great kids... we dont have great leaders.

Soon the shit leaders we do have will evaporate... but we must bring in players that can make a difference to lead these kids in 2 or 3 years...

Thats why i bring up a player like Power...because when Walker and Murphy will be 20/21 he will be in his late 20s leading them to a winners psyche....

Its just not going to happen....especially with blokes like Lance Saddington, Chambers, Longmuire and McLaren...

All stops must come out to bring that kind of player to the club over the next 2 years.. We need a couple!!!

But the town plonk doesnt get it.....

'all stops' - I think that is a direct quote from John elliott

and I guess you'd agree with David Parkin when he said he would have traded our number 2 pick (Tex) for Nathan Brown.

nice try....as you know i have never advocated trading any early pick...

And you dont get that we have nothing on top when Walker and Murph will be 21 to help them make a difference though do you???

Planning into the future is a bit hard to comprehend isnt it???

Writing bad prose is easier isnt it???

Rational and well argued as always London Blue - your good sense seems to have been passed over by others in the thread.
