I'll miss the long walk back to the city through the Autumn leaves after a Carlton win.

But I won't miss the awful queues (and even worse food) under the Heroes Stand.

I'll miss the pre-game Weisswurst (on full brown, with mild mustard and onions) from the Bratwurst Bar at the Vic Market on the way to the game. And if I don't have the kids, maybe a beer or two at Naughtons on the way.

But I won't miss the complete and utter lack of toilets in the Social Club.

I'll miss the Heatley Stand end. I still miss the scoreboard end, but the Heatley End was where I first saw Carlton play from the age of 5 (Under 19's, then ressies, then seniors - you could say we made a day out of it). Oh God, I'm old enough to remember footy being played on Saturday at Princes Park, Vic Park, Windy Hill, Arden St, Lakeside Oval, Western Oval... rarely went to Kardinia Park and Morrabbin. The former too far, the latter... terrible games in a mudheap watching the sad spectacle of ex-Carlton greats like Jezza and Kenny run around for the spooners, half the players they once were. Ugh, no thanks.

You know, if I ever have cause to drive down Royal Parade past our home ground, I still get a little shiver. Really, I do. And I probably always will.

What a wonderful thing.

I'm going to miss Jonathan and Barb.

Chalk and cheese those two.

Bloody hell, burn the hellhole down. Love the viewing at the Dome, besides, I'm 4 stations away from Spencer St. Was at OO on Monday with a friend of mine who commented on how shabby it looked!

I won't miss the filthy toilets under the Gardiner Stand, they are rank.

Today, when I take a close look at my Baggy Green, as I often do, I see mateship, camaraderie and teamwork, and a sense of belonging. I hope that its legacy lives on and the spirit it provides stays strong. Stephen 'Tugga' Waugh - Never Say Die.

I miss:
- the Old Scoreboard - with its red time on section (long before 'red time' was a television gimmick);
- watching the up-and comers in the magoos before the real stuff started;
- being able to actually chat to whoever you go to the game with rather than feeling like you have Video Hits on too loud;
- the rumble of feet stamping on wooden stands, clapping and the thumping of tin sidings as the Blues make yet another rattling run in the premiership quarter;
- watching a big goal at the Lygon St ending with the ball sailing out of the ground and in to the parkland;
- forward pockets, late in the game, littered with streamers and ripped up phone books;
- the cheersquad floggers draped over opposing ends fences behind the goal posts;
-being able to enjoy a cuppa, a chat and a kick of the footy ON THE GROUND, rather than being ushered out 10 minutes after the final siren.

You guys are making me depressed.

All the Carlton supporters standing on the wing in front of th Pratt stand. Always an entertaining day.

There’s been some magic in this thread, and I’m sure they’ll be a lot more as that final game approaches.

I first went to Prinny Park in 1983 (aged 7) with my Dad and sat in what was then Hawthorn stand, now the Pratt. Early on I can remember Rod Ashman walking past us in the stand, I guess he was injured that day – I couldn’t believe I’d been so close to the great man. We used to get there very early, maybe not for the 19’s but always for the magoo’s. Watching the ressies was very special, always on the look out for the next star. I’m living in London at the moment, but whenever I get back to the old town I reckon there’s a fair chance I’ll make the effort to get down to the Bullants when I can.

The scoreboard was always the fastest in the business.

Since I was old enough to go by myself (from 1988), I’ve always been down the Heatley stand end, firstly with the cheersquad for a couple of years and then in the pocket behind the race. In the late 1990’s I met some people at the footy who have gone on to be some of my nearest and dearest friends – there was no prior connection, just a shared love of all things navy. I have been down the other end of the ground only on isolated occasions - happily one was that famous day against West Coast in 1994 when Braddles nailed that checkside from 45 on the run deep in what was the old scoreboard pocket.
