Someone who has ran their own program, successful or otherwise.

Anyone from the AFL Cert IV course is ineligible.

Same goes for anyone from our last great era. The ‘debt collectors’ will come for them.

No Collingwood. Never again.

Funny how the AFL is so reactive. I am also in the get an untried coach camp.

But we did that with Bolton, then Teague and it was, oh yeah, we need an experienced coach, not a first timer.

Recent decades suggest a club's next premiership coach is a newbie, regardless of previous experience.

I wouldn't be against it . It worked well in the past with Barassi , Big Nick , and Jezza landing Flags .
Bont , Big Max , Pendles all have leadership in spades .

Bring back Jezza!

Actually I reckon give it to Josh Fraser long term.

Provided we win this year’s flag.

I hope the Carlton Board takes account of the opinions on TC.

Have to check the history books to see if we’ve ever had a coach whose previous team folded…

Todays departure has a certain feel about it.

Candidates? Anyone who would prefer to be coaching in sunny Melbourne opposed to freezing cold Hobart.

Hinkley (mates with Vossy)
Simpson (Vossy's mentor)
Buckley (eyeing Tassie job)

Let's do something no one else has done, let's get a successful coach from a different football code, soccer or rugby. Has Ted Lasso finished with the women's team yet?

Some interesting sliding doors commentary here from Corbin Middlemas about the parallels of Wright doing the coaching appointment at Collingwood, of which Voss was an applicant. Of course Voss was discarded by Wright, leaving McRae and Kingsley as the final two. Meanwhile we had Sayers wanting to get Ross Lyon in for us.

Middlemas goes into detail and rub some salt into the wounds about McRae's/Collingwood's progress since Fly was appointed. Noteworthy too, that at the time, the Pies weren't necessarily an attractive club/list to take on.

https://www.abc.net.au/listen/programs/ ... /106669904
(Starts just after 9m30s, although the most of the audio is about Carlton)

Easy to assume that Wright having ruled Voss out once already probably had a line through his name before he arrived as our CEO (regardless of rumours approaching McRae).

Let's hope Wright can weave his magic one more time.

We don't need a coach, we need a psychologist, with some good footy assistants.

Where is The Psychologist?

Honestly, I'd take Bucks over any of the other ex-coaches.

But I assume GW has seen enough of him too? :shrugs:
