At least it won't be Hamill

No retreads, no interims. Scour the league for assistants who are showing innovation and adaptability. Interview them and ensure they have the charisma and gravitas required. Speak to trusted sources within their clubs. I don't know enough about the potential candidates to name them, but names like Simpson would mean we're still stuck in the past with our messiah complex. It'd be Malthouse all over again. I'd much rather let Voss see out his contract than take half measure. It's not like the players have downed tools, it's not even that we're playing badly. We've been in winning positions and/or highly competitive every week, it's just that we've forgotten how to win.

Legit question

Did he or didnt he?

That should have been made public during the last quarter. Simple.

I'm guessing he wasnt ruled out, because there was no announcement.

He's so soft. The punch may have stunned him. Standard.

I'm expecting Lord to replace Elijah and if Harry is ruled out then I guess we have no other option than to play Young forward.
Hopefully Flynn Young and Wilson play well in the VFL tonight and force their way into the side.

Mick - I have to say - you are one hell of a guy to be able to say that and mean it. Well done.

I can't find anything concrete confirming Harry will be out next week.
Would only be for concussion protocol.
Match report lists his name on Injury list: "Head".
Nothing about concussion.
Surely it would have been adjudicated by the Dr and announced during the 4th quarter at the ground.

Based on that I expect Harry to play vs Freo.

I'm expecting continued improvement from our boys.
Last 2 weeks have been good.
My biggest concern remains with Pittonet after 60% game time. At his peak, back in 2023, Pitto could play 70% just, and the jumping TDK gave him the chop out.
He played 75% last night and he was double teamed in the last by Oscar Steene giving his all, and a fresh Cameron.
Whilst Young improved as the day went on, in fact saw him aggresively hitting packs for the first time ever (could this be a sign), but early on in the ruck Young was smashed.Damage done.

My eyes tonight will be on:

Backline: Wilson, Boyd and Saad (always keen to watch Charleton)
Midfield: Cottrell, Lord, Campos, Hewett and Chesser
Forward: Moir Ison Young
Talls: OKeefe and Derksen.

Monohan

So plenty of interest in tonight's game, and may I reiterate, we werent as bad as some are making out. Our mids were good. We missed opportunities and we took another step forward last night.

OUT: McKay, Young, Elijah, Byrne

IN: Skull, Cottrell, Lord, F.Young

Backs: Weitering, Dean, Haynes, Cowan, Newman, Florent

Ruck: Pittonet

Wings: Hollands, Cottrell, Carroll

Mids: Cripps, Cerra, Walsh, Smith, Lord, Williams

Forwards: O’Keeffe, Kemp, McGovern, Hayward, Ainsworth, Evans, F.Young

Hard to believe Acres & Saad are in the ‘never again’ bucket, but here we are.

Wilson the mid could get a look in at some point. The half back has too many ahead of him - and Charleson is behind him.

Ison & Moir are stuck behind Kemp & McGovern - both kicking 2-3 majors a week. Still, there’s an opening if either can impact across the middle tonight. Flynn Young is the ranking challenger there.

I'm with you Mickstar.

I can see our holes in our team and list, and have discussed them ain depth.
What about what we do have going for us? We showed that last night and previous week.
Last night the only thing between winning and losing was one freak Daicos.
Shoulda Coulda woulda......

We could, should and would vs Freo IF..........and we can make amends.
WE played one short last night, so 23 v 23 looks to be a fairer battle than last night.

Go Blues

P S ........... what are your thoughts on the Elijah bizzo Bondi ? wouldn't be surprised if the AFL don't put there nose into it myself .

Thing is we've been in winning/good positions in all our games. We should be 4-2 at minimum.

Not good for Harry but good for the team. Sometimes change is forced upon you and it's the best outcome. Richmonds success was borne from them being forced to play a small forward line through necessity. Their tall forward stocks were all unavailable and they had to play small ball. Enter Castagna, Bolton, Butler etc and a system of perpetual movement that the rest of the AFL couldn't combat. It wasn't a predetermined brainwave by Hardwick, it was forced upon him and it created a monster.

I'm hoping to see similar. Get it in there to a designated reference point, have your taller players fly at the contest and create your goals off the deck. We've seen that the players can create goals for ground contests in our forward line. It's time to take it to another level.

Young was putrid last night but he has shown an ability to do a job in the front half. Tell him he has to stand under the high ball and not get outmarked. Let Kemp, Gov and Hayward fly into the contest and surround them with Evans, Ainsworth, Byrne and the mids.
Stoppage at worst. We've been OK at forward stoppages this year so we should set that as a worst outcome.
I'm looking forward to some forced creativity.
As I've mentioned elsewhere. I don't care if they kick it inside 30 along the ground. Take the oppo talls out of the contest and get to work.

Funny, but I thought if you punched a guy in the head and had him go off the ground you would be reported, even if you were just trying to spoil to ball? Or you would get a free kick.

Isn't that what happened to Plowman?

I hope we don't drop Byrne. His output's been down, but yep. That wouldn't be good
