I'd have preferred 5 years but can't agree with your logic there Braithy, all the great midfielders can be quelled by a hard tag, the way you mitigate it is by having other weapons in there so that the oppo now finds itself having to stop the next guy, which may in turn give the first guy his freedom back. So we should be looking for another Walsh, not ditching the original for not being able to do the impossible.

Yep , spread the load .

Sacking Voss in-season isn't the answer. The list can't accommodate the game. Just don't renew the Voss and Austin contract at years' end. Announce it Grand Final eve.

Not sure about the timing.

Surely that’d undermine our chances the following day…

They should announce it on the Thursday night. Just to get the bbq really pumping

I can't remember the exact details (too old) but almost seems like a barry Mitchell busted up at the back of the bus scenario

Spot on.

How many times over the years have we bragged because an Aaron Joseph, or Alex Cincotta just shut down one of the game's best players?

Our players are not immune from the same thing happening to them. The onus is then on someone else to step up and take over.

Over time hopefully that will be Jagger, Walker and Kouta.

If only a journo had the balls to ask in the after match presser, Michael can you please advise the Carlton members and supporters, with factual evidence, why you should still be the head coach of Carlton?

I like how he's developed his confused look face. There are at least five variations of it now

Easy answer: "I have a contract and until the board decide I'm not the coach, I'm the coach"

Voss will be gone. Don’t be surprised if Austin is also gone.

This list is in terrible shape.

We will be in the wilderness for at least 5 - 10 years.

Watch membership plummet and instability return to the club.

Basket case.

11 wins from 38. Times up unfortunately. Sometime coaches get to a point where there is nothing more they can do for a club. This is one of those times. Gave us a thrill for 2 years and 16 matches the not getting through now and not evolving with the game as it evolves.

Richmond were like us for 37 years. Exactly the same. They just kept changing coaches until they found the right one in Hardwick. Not the way you want to do it but what do you do.

Interesting to look at Hardwick's record and note that after 7 seasons he still had a losing record and hadn't won a single final. Then in the 8th year he got a flag. Obviously context matters and he may have been building from a low base, but when he went W8 L14 in year 7 after a couple of 15-win seasons, did anyone think he was the man? That's an open question, not rhetorical, I honestly don't remember.

Yup both Voss and Austin need to go so that the massive task of rising from the ashes begins once again.
The last 2 decades have been a daze, let’s hope we have the competence in place to allow us to reclaim our dignity .
We’ll need 2 to 3 seasons yet, to approach finals. Let’s get it started no more skirting the issue.
Go Baggers

i dare say if voss isn't the coach last night we win ... for no other reason, than we are mentally fried in the 4th, and a new coach could and would shift this fragility by simply being there.

cripps is the worst captain in the comp, and offers zero leadership. weitering, not far behind, always sulking and walking around the back with his head down, uncommunicative to the young kids around him. and at the back they are all kids, who need a voice and a leader.

to think if the tigers and lynch kick straight, we lose that one, we wouldn't have a win on the board. and the first 6 weeks were the easy ones. yet, we've been in a position where we should right now be undefeated. even the swans game, we play the 3rd qtr like we did the first, we win.

now the pummellings start and what that will do for this playing group, will break them.

You just have to look at a player such as pretty crappy old pony tatts membrane. Knew what to do, nailed it. Why, while we run around like headless chooks?

O’ Neill and Gale recognized Hardwick needed tactical support
2017 they got way better
It’s the board that changed things
Our board ate [REDACTED]

Adding some extra context to the above, there was a board challenge at the end of 2016 with the main challenge being to sakc Dimma, which was a pretty favourable view in the wider community too. Well done them for staying the course and coming good, but at the time plenty (including me) were laughing at Richmond.
