1. A ruck who can ruck 80% Game time and take marks around the ground. Reidy is not the answer.
2. A Senior Midfielder to add to Cripps Walsh Cerra Williams Smith Walker and Lord. Adding speed and power.
3. A bonafide marking Fwd Ruck for the chop out. O'Keefe is not the answer for next couple years.

4. An A grade half back that is fast, skilful and can cause damage from the backline. I agree (otherwise its Wilson, Monohan or bust)
5. A goal kicking mid/forward that is dangerous. Haywood is that, if he plays forward Mr Voss. Moir can be the heir apparent, but see it in spades in Ison.
6. A player with X factor that can tear other teams apart if left unchecked. Pickett/Rankine/Rayner type. This could be player 5 above.
7. A damaging wing, Carroll is looking the best prospect for us at the moment. Happy to see how he goes at the end of the year. If he kills it then we need a 190cm+ wing on the other side that marks the ball well and can hit a target. Carroll is the one for me. A damaging wing can kick goals. An attacking mid. He's got a great left peg. He is progressing well. He's turns 21 this year. Does too much defending since returning from injury for mine, maybe because the other wing hasn't been bedded down, or we need to improve on our HB defender. I agree with you unless Ollie doesn't improve his disposal, and respect his limitations, its wing or bust.

We have some holes, none that can't be fixed though.
But I can say with certainty that this current list will not win us a premiership, so we need to build on it.
Dean, Jagga, HOF, Walker are all steps in the right direction.
Our rebuild began last year, that is my mindset this year.
Now it is time to attract players by cementing our brand and banking a few wins (not too many, we need the points  ).

Thirty something year olds, Gov, Newman, Acres, Saad, Williams, Hewett, Haynes, Cripps, plus Pitto need to be replaced. At least 4 gone end of 26.
We will have plenty of holes. Tassie boy, Cowan, will be a Tassie target too. I think the prospect of moving is playing in his head, hence form slump.

But we do have ... bird in hand ...

KPDs: Weitering with Dean and O'Farrell
Defenders: Florent Cowan Wilson Monohan
Wings: Carroll Ollie Cottrell
Rucks: _________________
Mids: Walsh Cerra Smith Walker Lord
Forwards: Elijah Haywood Ainsworth Ison Moir Byrne
KPF: McKay O'Keefe

Of the rest I do like Charleson, but he may not be on our list in 27. Not convinced with Chesser or Campos but depth may be theirs for the taking.

Not only do we have holes to fill, we also need depth. We need to improve on players like Lewis Young, Reidy, and Kemp and Pitto should be depth IMO

Haywood will need some midfield minutes to be that player running out of centre kicking goals, not convinced he's that player but happy to be wrong.
I agree Ison is the unknown and should be able to be that player, time will tell.

I just see that Bailey Macdonald for the Hawks is out of contract this year and can't get a game in their seniors.
He could be a good HB target, he's got some speed too.

Alright.

I'd ship Cripps, McKay and Weiters off end of year.

Send Cripps back to his fam in WA, get in the WBD ear for Weiters and McKay can go spud it up with his brother at the Bommerz.

I'd keep Weiters for another season. Reckon what Tassie could offer
with their draft bounty would be very juicy.
We'll definitely feel it in the short term but the 2 Harry's down back are both promising

BLUES ADD PORT RECRUITER

CARLTON has added Port Adelaide's former head of AFLW Shane Grimm to its recruiting department.

Grimm was formerly with the Power in a range of roles, most recently as the club's SANFL and Next Generation Academy manager.

That had followed a stint as the Power's AFLW football boss as well, in a long line of roles with the club.

Grimm has joined the Blues as their South Australian based recruiting officer, with Carlton having made a number of changes to their department in recent months, including the Blues' former South Australian and West Australian recruiting manager Jake Fuller joining Hawthorn.

Carlton also parted ways with its national recruiting manager Michael Agresta, with the Blues yet to replace that role. – Callum Twomey

Harry and Jacob have a 3-4 years of good footy left in them.
I expect them to improve.

We build a team around them, until we have the cattle to fill their roles.

We are not that far off the pace. Who knows, a new game plan, a new voice, a couple Trades and FA's, Walker, another year of development for 20 of our kids ... that's how footy works.

I certainly would not be getting rid of Harry and Weiters.

We could always follow Port Adelaide’s lead…

Won’t see any of Cochrane, Pilot or Salopek until they’re in club colours.

Is there a Salopek father son? Jesus, I remember senior's draft year discussed on here.

Now I'm feeling old!

If our blokes had that sort of initiative, we wouldn’t be in the position we’re in.

Cripps still checks in with his sprint coach, but he doesn’t demand similar commitment from the boys.

Harry did buy a sauna though…
