To be fair, since mid 2024, we @#$%&! suck in most games.

This will be the 100th time we've sucked in a milestone game.

I think Ollie would be a great option. He has the speed and the tank and I reckon he's been working on his tackling. As a bonus, he gets to study his opponent's reading of the play and superior kicking skills up close (but hopefully not too often).

It could be the shove he needs to take his game to another level, to break matches open instead of trying to save them.

We need more play makers and he's one of our few who don't stop after one or two quarters.

If all that fails, Ollie, just scrape your boots on his golden calf.

Teehee….

I was going to ask you by how much….

kindest regards tommi

I’m in 2 tipping comps…I will not be picking Carlton
again this year…I didn’t pick us against North or
Croats soooo….

Completely out of spite…100% spite…

I like spite…

just harmless spite…like enjoying your neighbours
bin getting blown down the court…after he made us
take our bins around by four houses…

don’t get me started….

we’ve been here since 1989…these John come
lately’s….(4 years ago)….are messing with a system
that’s worked perfectly well for 33 years…

damn him and his 3 Ducatis…

when Andy the German was there…the Chief and
I each put a car nose first through his fence…and
Andy was just a little angry….

we didn’t apply the handbrake very well….

I’m sure neither of us used it at all….

Tom Morris
@tommorris32

Steele Sidebottom won't play v Carlton. He copped a knock to the hip pointer v Fremantle and didn't get through training.

I'm actually not thrilled with Dean being an automatic inclusion, but here we are.

I've been thinking about the defence a lot. There was a lot of talk last week about how settled the Pies and Hawks defence is - how predictable they are to each other and how they understand the system they're trying to play. We, on the other hand, through form and fitness, seem to be constantly searching for the right combo.

So, there's a number of ways you could go with it -

You could play the most experienced defence: just the seven guys who have played in defence most across their careers.
Play the defence that has spent the most time together - the players on our list who are, by and large defenders, who have the most experience together.
Play the defence you want in the future; giving them the opportunity to bond and work together.
Do what we are doing now and cobbling together a defence week-to-week.

Reading the tea-leaves, I suppose this week we're going to go with:

Dean - Young - Haynes
Newman - Weitering - Florent

... with maybe Cowan as the seventh.

@bluechampion I'd prefer Saad over Dean for now - agreed we should not be overburdening an 18yo KPD

To me that is one too many talls. I would rather swap Dean to Wilson. Dean should learn his craft in the Magoos.

Saad would give us that extra run too.

I think we get games into Dean, as long as he seems to be coping well at this level, which I think he is.
I do think we are generally too tall and need to bring in another runner.
I wonder whether we should swap Harry and Kemp's roles... have Kemp presenting more up the field, with Harry staying closer to goal. But, also, don't always bomb it to Kemp on the wing rather have him as one of a few options.
And, I am tempted to run Jagga mostly off half back. Give him a role similar to Daicos or Sheezel in their first years. We cold use the run and vision off the back line.

No excuses this week. They are primed for the taking. I don't want to hear any excuse, no matter.

I'd play Young fwd and leave HoK out. Have Wilson take Young's place in the backline.
