I thought that was a much better game, except for 6min in the second.
We ran the game out, our midfield had a different look and we actually looked like we could be finally getting the game plan together.
Knock ons, blind handballs and moving the ball forwards at all costs is a must for this lot.
It should be their new standard.

My concerns are we still don't have the class in the midfield in order to be able to play a better transition game.
We also need more class off half back, the wings and a really good mid/forward.
And we need a player with some x factor that can tear games apart, we just don't have anyone.
I hope we keep persisting with the midfield rotations, but at the end of the year we really need to address this area.
I wonder how Ainsworth would go in the middle, he has pace, can kick goals and has some size about him.
When Hayward is back, maybe both Ainsworth and Williams can rotate in the middle.

I thought Cerra had a shocker, did some nice things in the first but disappeared after that.
186m gained is not good enough, especially when last week he had 403m.
Overall, our skills let us down again, but they seem to be getting better which is a plus.

With some good defenders back this week, maybe we have a chance to at least play 4 quarters and give this lot a good nudge.
I'm not as upset about the loss as thought I would be, especially given the poor umpiring.
But maybe I've just been conditioned.

Still feel that way after his gather round performance? :D

Curnow 9 goals 11 behinds
McLovin 9 goals 3 behinds
so far this year.
I'd say we are not missing him at the moment.

Pittonet 6 goals 1 behind, in many ways we’re ahead.

Yes, he's kicked 6 more goals than TDK and had 17 more HOs.
I'd say that is a win on that ledger so far.

Also tackles: Gov 13 CC 5, Goal assists: Gov 2 CC 0.

Dunno how to find stuff like disposal efficiency but expect Gov is way ahead on many metrics. Curnow beats him on contested marks, bicep circumference and surfing.

Gonna be interesting to see if they drop him in finals. They'll keep him in the team for H&A because they need marquee players for rugby state marketing, but you can't carry liabilities in September.

What was McKay’s excuse?

For me the difference is that Sydney had goal threats throughout the forward and midfield lines, whereas we just had Curnow and McKay. So teams going against Carlton could double team both our key forwards, knowing that everyone else posed minimal threat. Put too much into Curnow and Amartey, on the other hand, and you get carved up by Papley, Warner, Heeney, McInerney , McDonald and (once upon a time) Hayward. That's why Amartey gets more freedom than H has ever had, and so does Curnow for that matter, but he's too much of a clown to capitalise.
