Happy to see Byrne and Evans in.
I'm assuming Evans will have some midfield minutes to replace Lords.

I must say I am not that excited to watch this game, but I am still hopeful/delusional we can have a good crack at it.
A pass for me is to see a 2.5-3 quarter effort, a 4 quarter effort would be great and a win on top of that would be sensational.

If I was to offer any advice to the players at half time, I would say, run until you can't breathe and then run harder again, that is what is required to win games now.
And maybe play that clip from the Moore interview after the Hawks beat Sydney.

Yep. Good selections. I'd like to see Derksen come in as well but if he's not even an emergency, it appears the coaches don't think he's close.

Voss hates Boyd.

It really does seem like it.
The guy put in a good summer and was one of our best in the practice games.
Then misses out R0 / R1 and no VFL game.
Magically though appears in the 18 named and then is dropped when the final side is selected.
Why would you do that?

Excuses. It's still a 1 v 1. That means there are no other players involved in the contest. If it's not an open forward line, it means we're probably getting repeat entries which is a good outcome. The fact that Harry has had twice as many 1 v 1's tells you he has had many more of those opportunities than Gunston. Well done by the coaches hey?

As for your other insights, if your forwards need it gift wrapped, they aren't worth a pinch of shit. Even if the ball is kicked along the ground to no ones advantage, I'd still expect my players to win it minimum 50% of the time. If he can't win it, at least get the @#$%&! thing to ground!
As for the stats, they're not the determining factor but they're a great tool to corroborate what people see. They're also great to dispel inaccuracies for what people think they see. They're a reflection of what is actually occurring. Hence the 18 clubs get all the stats from Champion data every week and not fan sites.

We're 2 games in with a 50% winning percentage. Playing a new game style with a third of the team new. Let's try giving it a few weeks with the players giving effort for 4 quarters before sacking the coaches.

A forward likes space, room to attack and ball to advantage, everything that gunston gets.
I can and many others can clearly see our forward line is congested and our entries to the detriment of our players.
Harry is clearly not the main focus in the forward line which restricts his ability to reach the potential we require as a team.
We all can see we get it in there but how and to who's advantage is the argument.
Everyone is caught up in repeat entries but try and focus on efficiency.
That is the key get the ball in there and score, we get the ball there, but our scoring is erratic.
Maybe if they looked at the game and got their heads out of a computer screen they would figure out why.

agree with most of what you say and see. bar this.

since 2023, us not being able to score for vast swathes of gametime. us being unable to arrest momentum. players not giving full effort, players taking short cuts, player not hitting targets, playign with very little to no belief. all of this is a pattern.

not just 2 games into a 2026 season. but more like 75 games into Voss' tenure as HC.

i'm tired boss.

Well done Evans!!!

I really thought his heavily strapped knee was a sign he was not fit for purpose.

I believe we have added two players with a genuine sense where the goals are.
2 goals each would be a peach. Three for Byrne in a quarter would be divine.

Did hope to see Derksen push Young into the goal square to give Pitto a 10 minute chop out per quarter.
We are going to need Pitto in the last in Gawn's 250th game.

Trusting O'Keefe to turn his form around.
Lets hope he brings the ball to the floor to the advantage of imo the best group of small forwards I've seen in the team since the Mosquito Fleet:

Ainsworth, Williams, Byrne, Evans and Hayward.

I hope Florent Ollie and Cowan provide enough speed on the ball from the backline: looks a tad slow to me. Weitering must be fully recovered by now.
Midfield group looks quick. Like that.

I am confident there's enough pressure on spots to fire up the selected 23.
I expect us to show improvement and get the 4 points.
Can't wait for this game, and, like the old days, the reserves game too.

We don't desire 17 day breaks!
It seems such a long time since our last game.
Enjoy today's game everyone.
Go Blues!

Their run was most impressive in the first.
Certainly died down in the 2nd, but I thought same as you jake when I saw that run and link from backline.
Daring and confident in their process. Dare I say, trust in each other.
