That is a valid point.
This all stems from our midfield issues IMO.
Or maybe his half arsed efforts and dropping his head when things don't go his way are the problem? He averages more one on one contests than any other forward in the AFL so he's getting opportunities. For a bloke who is 200cm+ and carries plenty of size, he has been poor in the contest for quite a while. Averaging 25% 1 on 1 contest wins this season puts him behind every decent key forward in the game. Thilthorpe, Amartey and Naughtin average 50%. That's what you want from a key forward. To win the ball or at least get it to ground from at least half your contests. Not to meekly lose the contest.
Charlie is copping a lot of shit this year but he's winning over 47% of his 1 on 1 contests and averages more than 3 times as many tackles as Harry. Harry hasn't had 1 inside 50 tackle this season.
Some of His efforts against Tom McCartin were embarrassing.
So I'm not against Harry playing forward. But he is better suited IMO when he can lead into space and mark the footy. Not where smart defenders can easily outbody him. His outlet option leads for our defenders are very good. His poor kicking at goal isn't so exposed when he's up the ground as well. So IMO, let him play as a high forward which suits his pace/athleticism and try other options closer to goal. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I'd try Derksen and just ask him to compete.
All fair points, I get why you want him moving down the ground.
It also get's him more involved in the play, maybe it'll bring some form back.
I fear he's just another player on our list brought in to play a role and can't deliver to the standard required.
Last year I said I would've traded him, but then Charlie left.
If we got King or Walter we could've traded both.
I'd like to see Derksen get a go also, maybe if we drop HOK, Harry can relief ruck a little.
