The funny thing is we don't really know if Voss is a terrible coach because he's leading a team of deadset hacks.
We have a team chock full of unskilled, timid and mentally fragile players whose prkmary skill is making terrible decisions

Is that what Davies tells the board when they ask him for a report??
Lloyd already got the ass. Voss had a refresh of his assistants
Davies is not going to get the sack.

So either Voss or Austin are under the pump.

I've worked it out. It's so obvious. I just don't know why I didn't see this until tonight.
He is doing what I call 'the opposite to fly'. Collingwood won a premiership by believing they would never lose, no matter how far behind they were and would come home hard in the 2nd half.
Voss is working on getting us the lead and then a full 18 ground defence in the 2nd half. Now it's up to the players to believe and BANG Premiers!!!!

Vossy’s also still married to his wife, so the theory tracks.

He was predictably positive in the post match.

I really wouldn't have begrudged him if he'd said it was the win that wasn't a win, but I guess he didn't want to disrespect Richmond

Perhaps the players are deflated because the club held on to Voss for his final year of his contract. :donk:

I’ve come to the view that this is an unannounced rebuild.

So is Voss the head coach we want going forward?

At the very least it's a reset or whatever the euphamism is when you know you're on the wrong track list-wise.

Probably better than letting this team of blancmanges torch someone else.

voss will be gone for 2027. he's only here bcos the 2 or 3 coaches wright sounded out weren't interested.

next year we clear out a ton of cap (if i'm not mistaken) we bring in cody and we go again. under a new coach with a new plan and a revamped list to play to the constant changing modern rules.

afl need to have a good look at themselves. i'm a sports nut. nba, mlb, prem league. no other competition in the world, has an annual round of rule changes like we do. it's amateur hour at afl HQ

Yes , all in the name of speeding the game up . I want them to slow the game down . Its way too fast . Like watching basketball . What is this obsession with speed ?

The obsession is with scoring. The AFL thinks a faster game will lead to more goals, leading to more ads, leading to more $$$$$ from their broadcast partners.

Dunno about that, the premier league are doing a fair job at @#$%&! it up with VAR, set piece MMA tactics, handball rules changing year-on-year. The NBA has a major tanking problem and desperately needs to sort out draft and trading rules (protected picks etc). But in terms of laws of the game we do suffer for having an endemic football code. I will give our numpties one bit of credit though, I think between the arcs is a much better system than the mind-reading crap.

ah Mick ... i got no idea why they're obsessed with speed.

i love the nba - nearly as much as CFC. but viewer numbers at an all time low as most fans are sick of 138-124 scorelines and mindless bombing up and down the court shooting 3's. no defense, their soft tissue - calf, achilles, hammy - injuries are 40% higher than at any other point in the NBA ... and it's all down to this misinterpretation that fans want high scores and speed.

afl is not a well run sport imo. any organisation that feels the need to implement yearly rule changes is just getting lost in itself. there was nothing wrong with the game and since the 6-6-6 rule limited flooding from the centre bounce, the game was in a really healthy spot.

contested footy, chaos ball, run and gun - all of these ways of playing were valid. and watching the different tactical styles come against each other used to be enthralling (for me). where now, if you can't run and gun, you can't compete.

i'd always watch 5 or 6 games a weekend. now i sit thru one carlton game, and that's it.

The NBA is shithouse.
They should just do away with travel because no flower actually dribbles.

Like it . Your grasp on international sport is a lot greater than mine Braithy but that makes a whole lotta sense .

It all started with Shawn Kemp in the early 90s: four steps is OK if you do a massive dunk. Then we got the "Euro step" which basically means 3 steps. What's funniest in when the point guard takes the inbound pass at one end and takes 3cor 4 ambling steps before bouncing it, because why not?

As mentioned above, the absence of defence and 3 point bombing is the worst. Blokes just standing around waiting for their turn. Every game is the All Star game until play-offs. 82 game season should be halved, do that and change draft/trade rules to remove tank incentives, then you might actually get some exciting games. But why should the NBA care, they still get billions in ad revenue and fans still pay hundreds of dollars to turn up and watch the B-listers tank it out while the stars are "managed".
