Having said that, I am super confident we will have a brilliant season (unless crippled by injuries).

Looks half asleep because he doesn’t want people reading his eyes :sly:

Adam is not inner sanctum. We will extract what we can. It’s up to him to make an impact, or not. Great if he does, no great harm if he doesnt

My boy Marty Carroll proving his preseason last year wasn’t an accident.

He was ripping it up from HB with his pace.

He’s added stamina and is a dangerous specimen.

If he can make the wing his own…we have filled Acres spot with someone more dangerous.

Most training reports I've seen all seem to tell a similar tale:

Warm up = Bush league... mucking about, can't hit a side of a barn
Training simulation = Slick and promising
Match simulation = old habits (long bombs) under pressure

5 weeks to go...

If we don't start to rotate more run and carry through our midfield with players such as Walsh, Cerra, Smith, Williams, Elijah, Ollie, Moir, etc. then we aren't moving forward.
One inside extractor of Cripps or Hewett with others mentioned above running shot gun.

We now have Ainsworth, Hayward to play more small specialist forward roles, so midfield / forward rotations will be one of the keys to our 2026 progress.

I *think* we can avoid bottom 4

11th - 14th is probably realistic

9th or 10th is probably the best we can hope for

We have one proven key forward and one proven key defender on our list. Lose either of those two and we will struggle to beat anyone

Love the optimism BV!

Which 10 teams do you think we will be better than in 2026?

WC, Richmond, NM, Essendon*, Melbourne, Collingwood, Port, Adelaide, Saints, Freo, Geelong. That's 11. Bulldogs depend on Darcy. If he stays fit, they're top 4. If not, they're out of contention.

Yeah I’m here too.

I’m not fully getting the negativity.

Silvagni couldn’t get on the park for half the year, TDK played a few good games whilst looking for a new home then put the cue in the rack and Charlie is the most conditional footballer I’ve seen at the club in a long time; so much sizzle, so little sausage.

I’ll couch all of that by saying we’re running on empty with KPPs.

As others have mentioned, if Weiters goes down we’re [REDACTED].

Harry likewise but maybe not quite as much.

I know people are freaking about the losses but the biggest one for me is Harry O’Farrell. He was starting to look like the missing link in the backline and now we’re reliant on Lewis which is ok against some opposition but not the ones that count.

On the other side of all that I’m stoked with Hayward, Florent, Ainsworth and finally Jagga.

They are four very good footballers who will change our game style.

If Weiters, Harry and Walsh play 80-90% of our games at 90%+ fitness and we don’t have too many other fitness disasters we’ll be top 10.

WC, Richmond, NM, Essendon**, Melbourne, Collingwood, Port, Adelaide, Saints, Freo, Geelong.

That’s four of last year’s top six, including three of the top four?!

Obviously I hope you’re right!

I’m genuinely unsure.

Can see the upside and optimism. Last year was a disaster. Broken locker room, material injuries and a coaching group that wasn’t up to standard. Surely it can’t be that bad again?

But in keeping with modern Carlton, can just as easily see it get worse.

Clearly hoping for the former.

Sadly I agree....and the key forward has been unreliable.

I look at many lists around the comp like Gold Coast and Freo and wonder if we'll ever have a list that's good enough.

That's without factoring in the Marvel stadium handicap.

I reckon its a bit how we play
If we give 100 percent play team footy and are cohesive thats the first step
Integrate new recruits thats first step and better than last year
Competition for spots in 2026 is the order of the day
Hopefully ladder position 8-10 and get a final in giving young core that experience load up 2027 with walker and maybe King or another free agent
Get a few more solid citizens in the draft and trade next year and launch
