Rumour going round BF that the Derker -Wayde Derksen is going to train with the Blues from Monday -not sure how much veracity there is to the claim
A few of us were keen on him earlier in the pre-season
Can play Back and Forward -Dees were keen apparently until May couldnt be offloaded

That would be a huge boost.

Awesome, putting that to bed early will give Walshy all time to get his body 100% and come out firing without the usual conspiracy theories.

I had nothing to do with it.

Not only that, we would not be going into another season with speculation over our one star player who's a free agent at the end of the season.

Hindsight showed it was an absolute disaster within the four walls last season. It'll be great to get this wrapped up and clear the runway to get back to pushing for finals and hopefully Edmund's mail is right.

Troubled Blue “closing in” on SSP lifeline after delisting

By SEN
Image

Troubled Carlton midfielder Elijah Hollands is closing in on an AFL lifeline at the Blues, according to SEN’s Sam Edmund.

The 23-year-old was delisted by Carlton in October with a year to run on his contract after battling mental health and alcohol issues in 2025.

While Hollands was axed by the Blues, the club offered him the opportunity to train this pre-season with hopes of reviving his career via the Supplemental Selection Period.

Now, according to Edmund, the former No. 7 pick has done everything right this summer as he looks set to be retained by the club.

I hope if he gets a contract, it's on the strictest, leanest terms possible.

Do not give him an inch.

I got to read an AFL contract recently - they are very simple documents these days (I got to read an old one and it was way more complex and detailed - Shane Woewodin's)

The contract references the players association Collective Bargaining Agreement. This document establishes "standard player contracts" for all players. It also outlines a "code of conduct" and an "illicit drug policy".

Unsure if there is room to add stricter terms, or all players are just under that.

Thought it was interesting when I read it

If Derkson does claim a spot, the number one priority must be for the players to come up with a Dead Pool related nickname….

There has to be special provisions for special cases - I imagine there would be specialist legal advice on both sides to work this out.

You cannot have a one-size fits all agreement which covers players with a history of recidivism.

Of course you can.

It’s what gave us the impetus to terminate his last one.

Nah. GreatEx already nailed it in another thread. The correct answer is Derker Derker Mohammed Jihad, or any variation thereof

Shining up the crystal ball, I think the last spot on the list goes to one of Phillips or Derksen - and that’ll be it.

We won’t designate Motlop or O’Farrell as LTI unless we’re struggling with injuries.

The unfortunate reality for Will White is that we just don’t have a need for his position. I would have him ahead of Elijah, not that he’s a better player. I just think we all need to see a bit of grind with Elijah. Throw all the temptations at him and, if he can keep his nose clean, he’ll get a shot in the MSD.

Cottrell’s return date is a major factor in both of their prospects.
