Never assume anything when it comes to being a good coach
Being a durable very good player with an impeccable record off the field doesn’t mean you will
Be a good coach
Hopefully Boak is but dumb to assume
I’m sure Sturt’s playing list thought this will be interesting when Phil Carman became coach in the 80s
Apparently was fantastic
Never assume anything in this world

I think Boak’s role is more Flava Flav than Chuck D.

Most certainly. But there is an old saying that "the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior".

Check out these top 10......

I doubt you would find anyone in the AFL that will say a bad world against Boak. That is a pretty good start.

Boak is -

Of great Character, if you are to believe the myriad of articles written about him over his career. Respected by the vast majority (I suspect 100%) in the AFL for the way he conducts himself on and off the field. An uber Professional. A proven leader with 6 years as Port Capt. He has leant under Coaches Mark Williams and Ken Hinkley, who are both deemed to be very astute football brains. Even now he is involved in various charitable initiatives. Voss and Davies have seen him first hand for years so they know the caliber of the man. Based on his time at Port, I think it would indicate he values Loyalty very highly.

He will walk into the club already having the respect of every player. The rest is up to him, but I have no doubt he will succeed.

Of all the recently retired players in the AFL...............

https://aflratings.com.au/2025-afl-reti ... elistings/

Boak would have to be in the top 3 you would want walking through the doors at Icon to help Develop our players.

I think Breust and Duncan would be in the discussion.

Then again I am bias. I wanted to draft him after the first game I saw him play in 2006, but I guess Gibbs went okay as an alternative.

So , after reading that Cazz you could say there is a better chance of doing well rather than screw it up . I"m happy to take a chance . The odds are in our favour . Great addition for mine . Still , as the boys point out there are no guarantees . Reckon he will be brilliant .

I reckon he'll be a good pick up and with the right players added this off season we could be back to our best.
Then I hope we can return the flogging in the midfield we received this year from North.
I'm pretty pumped.

Patch has senior aspirations . He aint coming here to shred his reputation .

i wonder if he's here to be our next coach? wright mighta said something like Voss has until week 10, after that all bets are off and you'll be interim.

that would be incredibly undermining and unprofessional. they all say GW is Mr Professional so i very much doubt he’d undermine his coach like that.

But anybody can see that Voss needs to get us playing better footy in 2026 than 2025 or it’s “TFYS and we wish Michael all the best with what comes next”.

I’m quietly optimistic if we can fix issues around ball use going inside 50 and speed through the middle of the ground which we have started to address with Chester. Not sure how much diff those two swans will make on that score. team disunity from disgruntled/checked out players like JSOS, Charlie and TDK have been addressed. hopefully Ash Hansen is no longer running match day decision making. so we’ve got plenty of upside even while losing a trio of players who, at the peak were each gun players.

As if Boak, who has never coached at any level, would be a candidate for Vossy's spot in a year's time.

Voss may or may not survive as Head coach. He will be given every chance to succeed in 2027...as long as injury is kind, and we improve our KPD and KPF depth with our draft and SSP picks.

it's almost like they are trying to change the culture by changing the attitude of all the younger players and have it filter through as the older ones drop off the list, or are discarded (Curnow, Silvagni, TDK, etc)

I reckon 793 development coaches would be too many.
