Unconfirmed whisper that Kemp has had a setback.

I can live with a Kemp setback but if Jagga or HOF re-injure their ACL's then I'm done.

Bit premature to throw the toys out. In any case, I was surprised how many on here had Kemp in their best 18, his credentials were in question even before (another) major injury.

Achilles are a bastard to recover from, plus we're Carlton, not a huge surprise.

Injury is going to happen.
As long as our injury list is more than half of the numbers between 2022-2025 we will cope.

A couple players are critical to our structure and we have no depth for cover: Weitering and McKay.

We have 3 rucks to compete, with Pittonet strong but a plodder, who can nullify big rucks, OKeefe is undeveloped and injury prone, but we really don’t know what Reidy is capable of. At least we have 3.

Walsh showed how important he is for our ball movement. We have a bit of depth in the midfield group.

Walsh overseas now strengthening his back and hammies. He is his own worst enemy pushing too hard. I hope he stands up in 2026.

Kemp is depth imo. Had one great game in a couple years against a undermanned bottom of the ladder West Coast. He is a swing man, and gives Vossy options. End of the world? Nah, unless he plays mobile KPF ahead of OKeefe, otherwise he’s competing for 3rd tall forward vs Moir or in defence vs Haynes. Depth.

Last year we started round 1 with 13 out injured, and a few underdone players to fill spots eg Harry.

We won every game in 2025 when we had less than 8 on the injured list. Our win against GF side Geelong, we had 5 missing with injury.

We’ve moved on the unreliable perennially injured bodies: Marchbank, Cunningham, Martin, Curnow and Silvagni. That should help.

Curnow played 16 games but his body only looked good in his last 2 games playing CHF.

Pray to injury gods :gift:

@bondi Kemp's breakout game was against the Dogs (5 goals), the Eagles game (4) was the appetiser. Dogs game was just 2 before the ACL popped, so that's where his optimistic forecast comes from. Nonetheless, I agree the jury was still out: game after Dogs he had 7 disposals and no scoring shots in 87% ToG against Collingwood. I was chatting about the Curnow trade with a Swans mate yesterday and touched upon Amartey's 9 goal effort followed not long afterwards by a streak of 10 behinds; goes to show that every spud can have a day out on occasion. Not to say Brodie is a spud, but the Collingwood game illustrated how a breakout game invites attention from coaches, then you find out a player's true level.

Spot on GE.
Bulldogs game.

I was a huge Kemp fan as an onballer till he did his ACL.
I can’t deny I may have a case of bias when it comes to Kemp.
London blue always reminds me of Kemp, when we talk best 23s

But I value him enormously for his versatility, height and commitment to a contest.

For his height he had pace on his side and quick reflexes.
I hope the latest Achilles doesn’t further compound his ACL.

Chris Davies said in today's interview that Cotters might join the main training group in late January but won't be rushed. Obviously dealing with major foot issues and probably not one we should be pinning our hopes on.

As much as I like Cotters and his achievements to get the best out of himself, if he is in our best 25, I would think a few others haven't yet shown their full potential.

Kemp was involved in match sim at yesterdays epic training session.
He seems alright.

Pitto copped one in the throat from Reidy. He's OK

Haynes running laps: no contact
Cottrell on bike
Carroll no contact
Newman was also out there...didnt have the no contact hat on.

So good to have a healthy list. Boys on fire.

Not completely sold on Kemp but he’s pretty bloody important now given the losses of Curnow and Silvagni, as well as HOF being out for the year

Apparently Ollie Hollands was also no contact, after a shoulder op

And Ainsworth trained inside with a minor foot injury. Some cauliflower stood on it at training

Was that the last session of the year, or just the last open one?

Marc Pittonet is recovering from a fractured larynx. He suffered a knock to the throat at training on Friday and was transferred to hospital later in the day.
Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Yikes. That's quite an extended absence if memory serves from Ed Curnow's injury
