Maybe dig back through the archives and you might see what I'd do to ensure we got Butters in his draft year.

The archives:

A pick in the teens would have been too late for Butters. He was drafted at 12.

Stocker was pick 19.

FWIW, I don’t think they have given up on Elijah.
I think they’re putting a fire up his rear end…
If someone wants him, we still ultimately need to approve a trade.
If not, or if we are not happy with a potential trade, then he stays with us but hopefully his brush with footy mortality has the desired effect.

Agreed. I get the feeling that if we've managed to get a satisfactory amount of points for our bids needed, we'll keep him. Otherwise, we'll happily offload for the difference.

Voss on Hollands:

Hollands twice took personal leave this year and ended the season in playing VFL.

"That discussion was 'it's up to you to be able to look around and find out if another place suits you'. That's the discussion we had with him and he's clear on where we stand on that, so it's up to him to explore those options and what they look like," he said.

"Absolutely, we've been a little bit disappointed with how it's transpired across the whole year. He's been quite an important player to us and over the course of the previous year he had a real influence on the way we played. But the year hasn't gone the way we wanted.

"The conversation was if there's another place that is going to get the best out of you, this is the time to go and look for that."

They've clearly said 'If you can find someone else who is willing to put up with your shit, then go ahead. If not, we'll see you at pre-season traning, and you know what our expectations are.'

He's another player that has come from a club where the tail wagged the dog.
It's good to hear that the dog is wagging the tail at the club now.

I hope he stays as he's a great player when he is firing.
Clearly it's all up to him now, the standards have been set.
Ollie needs to get in his ear about the personal standards he should have.

A crayon that walked into the stylists & said “give me the Jeffrey Dahmer”.

Interesting times.

Can’t see how they keep Curnow. If he’s out meeting other coaches it’s a matter of time. Also, it doesn’t support Weitering’s comment about leaving if you’re not invested.

TDK, JSOS and Charlie. Three big outs (literally and figuratively) at a time when Voss has no contract beyond next year.

Wright better have a rabbit in his hat or this will get ugly, and fast.

Sometimes player managers throw out club names to throw you off the scent.

Geelong is the destination many of these A grade talents want to get to.
So whilst his manager says Sydney & Gold Coast everyone realises they are unrealistic club destinations.
Sydney is an ageing club reliant on four good players. Gold Coast has about 1000 academy players coming in… so once again it will likely be Geelong.

Someone has to stand up to this process of Geelong raiding clubs. Yes, I know they have Cameron & Neale, but they can stock up.

Curnow’s contracted. It’s a hold unless you get overs x 10. If his contract expired in 2027 maybe you act differently.

Sleeping with the light on are we?

Jezza has got at least a couple more in him & they’re not going to lump Charlie’s contract if they don’t have to. Paying 100% of his deal is the only non-negotiable.

Sydney can do it, but they don’t need to. Their game style just doesn’t call for a Curnow type. They’d sooner target Weitering, all things considered.

The Dees could get it done if they can move Oliver - so they can’t get it done.

Hawthorn might, but I don’t see Mitchell being interested. Chol, Lewis, Dear, Gunston for at least one year, so again $1m of Curnow eating a hole in their plans.

Nope. I think Charlie is out there getting the humbling of a lifetime.

I have said it Months a go.... IF Voss is retained, half of the Senior Players will want out!

We have always said that the Club is bigger than the indiviual so if any player does not want to be here, then let him pack his bags and Go.

However, i am deeply concerned. How many other Senior players don't want to play under Voss but they have not Spoken out in fear of losing their pay checks?

I mean we all saw it this year. 80% of Players have checked out so early. In fact, the way we played against Richmond in Rd1 indicated that many players were already Checked out!

If this proves to be true, the next year will be a disaster if the players continue to perform the say way they did this year under Voss.

GW needs to sit down with Charlie and others & have an honest conversation as to what really is going on between them & Voss.

We have always said that the Players seem confused and not able to understand Voss's Game plan and what he wants from them. Is this the reason why SOS flipped out and now Charlie? How many more are there?

Dodo. You are correct. I would have hoped GW would have spoken to the players before making the decision to keep Voss. It is a worrying trend with Voss where players want to leave and its now happening with us.

If players are unhappy, we need to know why. As we cannot have another derailed season next year and again players wanting to leave.

I would have liked a fresh start with everyone at the club. But here we are.

Im interested to see why Jack wanted to leave. Now that is the interesting one.

TDK was always money hungry so that is no surprise. But the other one who knows.

Charlie and his manager really endearing themselves with the Carlton faithful.

Like I’ve said previously, they can both GAGF.

Unless we get WAY overs, no trade.
