If we get Davies then maybe Hinkley will come over to support Voss and we can then start work on some of their players.
Thank you Port.

Hmm
That seems optimistic

Optimistic. We are a mess mate and no way anyone of value even consider our club. It’s over, with more exodus if they can get out……….

Can we rename the site Talking Depression.
Flower me.
A list cull was always on the cards, too many passengers and overvalued players.
The club has been quite clear in what it is doing.
New football boss, new assistant coaches and new players.
It is real and it is happening, doomsday fears and armageddon logic is not required.

Yep and we'll have a better idea after Trade Period ..... players and picks leading into the Draft

That's it...hysteria. Just what the club needs.
I think GW understands the need for stability and where there is no obvious choice for improvement then things stay the same. Not all changes are internally driven, many external factors involved.

Head’s not buried Surrey.

I completely understand where we are as a club but you’re over egging the omelette right now.

We have a new CEO who has extensive experience and has been pretty successful in many facets of AFL club administration.

Let him do his thing and see what happens.

If he flowers up we start again.

If he doesn’t then yay!

I have more confidence in what might transpire over the next three years than I have for at least a decade and maybe more.

It’s not a lot but it’s something.

I am impressed by Matthew Lloyd and think he would make a great assistant coach.
He seems to do well with Haileybury, his commentary is good, he would drive standards, help our forward craft, and not a bad kicking coach either. Don’t think it would happen for a number of reasons but I think it would be a good appointment.

Not a popular opinion around here . But i agree , Mathew Lloyd is excellent . He is very fair in his commentary . Doesnt favour anyone .He knows what he is talking about . Another new face in the commentary box is Tom Hawkins who i also find to be excellent .

Used to hate Mathew Lloyd as a game analysis person. He was so bandwagon and flipping his opinions based on two games. But he's matured into the job and I have a lot more trouble hating or ridiculing him these days...
I mean, I wanna hate his guts and prove how dumb he was this year, (I'll reserve that for Damian Barrett, LOL) but I just can't critique him hard any more, and I feel like his prejudices have been tempered with age.

make no mistake, he still hates us, always saying trade Walsh, Cripps, Harry, Charlie just for the shits and giggles. but yeah he's got a lot more insight to offer today than when he started the job.

But, but, but... it's all his fault and him alone.
Wright stated on SEN that last year trade period that they cut to deep deprived them of depth and they had to rely on to many young players.

Exactly what I have been banging on about since last years trade period.
So yes it was his fault if you listen to Wright

Not necessarily trying to argue the point, but this is a copy of the players that left at the end of last year, as per this article: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1245422/ins ... ad-of-2025

Quote:
Domanic Akuei (delisted), Jack Caroll (delisted), David Cuningham (delisted), Sam Durdin (delisted), Matt Kennedy (trade, Western Bulldogs), Caleb Marchbank (delisted), Jack Martin (delisted), Alex Mirkov (delisted), Matt Owies (trade, West Coast)

Kennedy (traded for R2 pick) would have been good, for sure, and Owies*, perhaps. Otherwise, did we really lose so much?

*Owies trade helped us land pick 3/Jagga Smith.

nothing we cannot replace this trade and draft period. we also brought in Smith with those trades and people forget to mention that, his upside is who knows what at this stage but was 100% the type of player we were looking for* to augment the bulls in Crippa and George plus Walshy who seemed to be coming good again round 24. Still can';t make up my mind about Cerra, I think I was overrating the mental side of his game in the past a bit. Still has youth on his side though… who knows?

* (except for his knee but to be fair that's probably a Cursed Football Cronyism type of thing)

I’m frustrated that after such a period we still can’t set the standards and expectations.
The fact that our club, coaches and admin have let things get to this is downright untrustworthy and deplorable.
I have no faith in anyone that has been at the club over the last 5 years and more importantly another coach who hasn’t set the culture and is now blaming the playing group ‘gees where shit’ amongst other quotes. A poor excuse for his failings and redirecting at a group he has been looking after for so long and could and should have changed. I won’t accept it but everyone else can if they want too.

Agree it’s very difficult to swallow, a head coach for almost 4 years and the playing group remain transfixed in a lamentable state.
The club culture dysfunctional too, it’s just not acceptable what’s the administration, football department , all the experts handsomely paid been occupied with for the decade.

Once AGAIN for those that still think a change of head coach is the only solution.

Quote:
It's a simple enough task, but hard to accomplish: fix the footy. Since the Blues sat second on the ladder after round 16 last year, they have won just 11 of 32 matches. The game has quickly moved a long way past Carlton's stoppage-heavy game style, which was driven by brutish midfielders and strong-marking key forwards. The retooled football department needs to quickly reshape the list, with speed and skill a clear priority. The delayed debut of Jagga Smith will help, but the youngster won't be at his best straight after a knee reconstruction. Hanging on to Charlie Curnow despite his willingness to consider a move will help, but if he does end up moving - and stranger things have happened - the Blues need to target some run, ideally with players rather than picks so they can capitalise on their list's age profile. Finding a solution to the small forward gap will also help. Can Jesse Motlop or Ashton Moir develop into that player? Once the pieces are in place, the new assistant coaches under Michael Voss will quickly need to implement a more effective game plan while still maximising the strengths of the stars. Simple, but very difficult. - Michael Rogers

Our list is our issue first and foremost.
Fix the list, work on the game plan and manage the injuries a bit better.
