The distraction of the court case against a silvagni family member might be a distraction if he stayed with us in 2026. He is dead to me though.

I loved this video when I first saw it.
Sweeping music, voice over is perfect, the colour footage of Serg.. I got “emotional” by 0:35 in with the footage of Serg.
Silvagnis were dogged contributors to the Carlton story.
For whatever reason, that story ends.
But at least we can hold onto some great memories.

His father is already an orphan. He was the only one that didn't turn up to the 30th year celebrations.

According to this seems JSOS wants to leave for premiership success. Buckley and Deleido left Brisbane and Richmond for premiership success and then their original clubs won flags.

Looks like it might be a late first round compo for JSOS. I'm all good with that. Pick 9, late first rounder, cleared salary cap. We might actually have a win out of that.

Whilst we're in the business of list changes, I'd ask the captain what he wants from the next couple of years. If he's interested in going back to WA in the short term for family, I'd ask the Eagles if they'd be interested in Crippa and Gov for their Oscar Allen compo. Exchange of others picks where required.
Harley Reid etc would benefit enormously from a big body like Cripps in their midfield. Not pushing him out the door but if he wants to be around family with a young one, I would help facilitate the move.
If Crippa prefers to stay, I'd take the burden of captaincy off him and see if Walsh wants to take the mantle.

Questions on FA compo:

1. If the trigger for band 1 compo is $900K and TDK is being offered $1.8M shouldn't we be given two first round compo picks?

2. Why is it being accepted that WC will get band 1 compo, and therefore pick 2, if Oscar Allen leaves? I can't see an offer that's been made to him anywhere. Will he be offered $900K to meet the band 1 mark?

3. Is there much difference in ability between Oscar Allen and Jack Silvagni? It's been rumoured that WC will get band 1 compo for Allen which is pick 2, whereas we will get band 2 or 3 for Silvagni which is a pick somewhere in the 20s or 30s. They will be on similar salaries. I think we should get band 2 compo as a minimum. I don't know how the AFL can judge Allen's ability so high.

4. Why don't we offer Jack $900K so that the other club has to offer $900K and then trigger band 1 compensation?

Max comp picks is 1. Ave salary, adjusted for player age, needs to be in top 5% for band 1 compo.

We won;t offer JSOS $900k coz he is not worth that. He played 10 great games in defence this year, but he is no sure thing.

As long as Curnow doesn’t get to Sydney or Geelong (or Collingwood), I can live with any other outcome.

Some club has to make a stand one day and just tell players “honour your contract.” If he sits out 2026 playing no football so be it. He has a contract. Honour it.
Kane Cornes was basically arguing this last night.

Some players have recently bias- and don’t look at the fact the club stood by him during years of injury.

Free agency -
Sydney & Geelong should not be able to get Round 1 or Round 2 draft selections. First pick should probably be in the 40s.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Jack an unrestricted free agent?

So it doesn't matter if we offer him $1M, he can sign somewhere else for $800k if he wants and we only get band 2 compensation.

Agree with other's comments regarding Charlie. Unless we get a king's ransom for him, he stays.

Yep same. I care but not so much about JSOS aside from family name and history. TDK i liked but he was talked up so much about the media and St Shitna licked that all up. I knew he wasnt going to stay long term as he is money hungry and always gave us issues with contracts.

But Charlie. We need to keep him. That would hurt me a lot.

A kings ransom and/or a good foot up the arse.

As weiters and Walsh have said “play for the jumper”….i interpret that as harden up!

I suspect the Curnow talk is real.

1. We’ll only get one pick, but the system works on net gains/losses. So, unlike WCE, we should have a bit of freedom to add a free agent without jeopardising the compensation.

2. He’s going to Brisbane. As it was with Barrass, the compo will be bare minimum Band 1.

3. Allen is a bonafide key forward when fit. He’s got panels on Jack.

4. Jack is an unrestricted free agent. Just take the pick & move on.

I think Jack will leave a bigger hole in the short term on our list with defence, especially given HOF being out all next year, Saad probably retiring and Haynes one year older. Any half decent ruck who can compete well will be ok to cover for TDK.
