Wilson went off injured in the 3rd quarter and didn't make it on the ground in the last.

Might not been a injury that warranted being on injury list but enough for him to miss

This is a “youth refresh”? There’s plenty of older players in the team who seem to be untouchable.

That's a 26-year reduction, an average of 4.33 years per player. I'd say it's a significant rejuvenation.

So it won't be our oldest team in 80 years like last week was?

I still want to see the maths on that claim. I've heard the "oldest since X" but never seen any numbers.

Same. Footy statician on Twitter sirswampthing was asked if he could verify the claim to which he just replied “It is correct” without expanding on it in any way.

Or he overvalues Doc and Acres.

Doc had 19 disposals (2nd highest for us), 17 uncontested (the highest on the ground for us by 6).
He also had 6 turnovers, 69.2% kicking eff. and 3 clangers.
He had 386m gained and 3 tackles.

Boyd only had 11 disposals, but only 2 were uncontested.
He had 0 turnovers and 0 clangers with a KE of 77.8%
He had 281m gained but had 0 tackles.

I'm sure there is a reason he was dropped over Doc but going by stats, I'd rather better kickers that are playing contested football on the park.
At minimum I would've dropped Acres over Boyd.

Acres had 11 disposals, 4 uncontested.
He also had 1 turnover and 2 clangers and a KE of 66.7%
He only had 159m gained but had 4 tackles.

Bluesum says "2. This was Carlton's oldest team in 81 years", not sure if they independently verified it or just repeated the claim.

My point was that we targeted all the youngest players to omit rather than all the oldest (of which we have a majority). What's the benefit of dropping all our mid-age players when that's the biggest gap on our list?

Your 4.33 average will be much less if you averaged all names players and not just the changes

I don’t have a dog in this fight. My eyes tell me Doc is past it. I like the idea of having a skilled kicker in the team.
However, I absolutely do not believe that Voss dropped Boyd because he hates him. I would believe the Voss has his favourites - all coaches do. However, I imagine that Voss is dropping someone like Boyd because he is not playing the role that Voss wants him to play as well as Voss expects him to. This may have been throughout the game or at a particular moment that made an impression. Remember, he did drop Doc earlier in the season too. It depends on what Voss values. He may care less about Acres kicking his standard 2 out on the full, and more about the position that he puts himself at various times during the game.

PS. I agree with some commentators suggesting that we should try Curnow up the ground either in midfield or on the wing. I think that would work better with Harry up forward, but worth a shot at some point. Pagan even threw Carey into the middle and Matthews did the same with Jono Brown occasionally. Not to mention the Richo-almost-Brownlow season.

I was going but I'm feeling under the weather as the day has progressed. I know it's late notice but I've got 4 reserved seats (level 2) if anyones keen. I should be able to transfer them electronically.
I know I'm the eternal optimist or delusional as Keogh calls me, but I'm expecting a great contest tonight. I've actually backed us for a change.

That's the spirit.
Good Seats!!

I have a much more excited outlook for this game.

If the Leaders lead. The kids will follow.

Good luck to your team. Get well.
A win will be the tonic.

Its a Carlton Collingwood game.
I feel a tad of confidence in the hairs on the back of my neck.
Its time to rumble.

I strongly believe the Leaders know they are under the pump like never before.
If they can lead, earn their keep, and use the kids as weapons, we could win this.

4 quarters of raw youthful enthusiasm mixed with grit to kill.
Lets hope we've got the right mix. Its fascinating.

WE have got every monkey off our back since 2023, including orange socks.
We have win every game with less than 8 out injured, but lost every game with more than 8 out.
Tonight, we have 10. Lets turn the tables Baggers.
