Change it up this week for me.
Cripps forward, second ruck. The rules have (wrongly IMO) taken away the strengths of the athletic ruckman currently. The reason physical ruckman are currently succeeding is they can step over the line, block the opposing ruckman with their arm and not allow him access to the ball. The only prerequisite is they get their hand back to touch the ball. Shepherd and block as much as you want. Cripps could do that and then add value after the tap.
At the moment he is averaging less centre clearances than any of the prior 10 years. Pendlebury or Crisp usually do a job on him. Mix it up. Let's see what they do if he's playing around the ground as a ruckman.
Our issue is we're getting hands to the ball first but can't turn that into a clearance. Currently we get more first touches at stoppage than any team. Yet we're 17th for turning first touches into a clearance. Make changes.
I'd get rid of the crazy expectation for Cincotta to tag opposition mids without starting in the centre square. If he plays on Daicos, he stays on Daicos. If Daicos starts half back, by all means play Cincotta half forward. If Daicos goes into the middle, let Cincotta play in the middle. It saves the disruption of him starting half forward and trying to man up after the centre bounce, and his foot skills and aggression will be valued around the ball.
It also gives George and Cerra the opportunity to hunt the ball for a change. George has shown previously that when Crippa isn't the main target, he can step up and win the ball well. Cerra has had a couple of down games but he's still top 15 in the AFL for centre clearances. Plus he can get the ball from inside to outside with his movement.
I like the idea of Williams and maybe Fantasia going through there as well. Maybe even Durdin or Evans. Williams' record in the middle of recent is better than any of our mids. I love fast feet around the stoppages.
I'm also debuting Ben Campo. His kicking needs work and his decision making at times but I like his strength and intensity in the contest. If he doesn't win the ball, he's in the grill of his opponent with tackle pressure making sure they can't win it. Give he kid a shot.
I'm tempted to give Carroll a run on the wing but I'll stick with Acres.
Charlie at half forward. Gov is a good lead and extremely quick. Let him come out of the square.

Can someone just hand BV the reins! @#$%&! seriously. Cazzesman as the assistant coach. Bondi - team shrink. DannyBoy - chaplain. TC - selection committee. Effes, CK, Dadada, Doc etc in advisory roles and I bet we'd get a better outcome...and Keogh, Head of Retrospective Recruitment.
