Isn’t Brisbane lucky to use the fathers-son rule to pick up THE best player in the draft by handing over rubbish picks in the 50s or whatever?
Ashcroft will be a legendary player. Not hard to pick him. Don’t need to be a recruiting genius.
Match committee.. bit confused by why they pick Pittonet. .
Pitto is lame. He's not going to last 100 minu.
.

Sorry, but I’m sticking by my opinion.
“Nullified” .. doesn’t really do much.
Rickmen today aren’t just bash and smash ruckmen.. the Collingwood ruckman kicked 2 or 3 goals in their match.
Pitto is one dimensional.
He might “nullify” but that doesn’t win you games.
If Young was playing.. charging down to the forward line, the North ruck would have to follow him (using up petrol tickets)
Young is lighter.. yes.. but in today’s football not really a hindrance (in my opinion)
Xerri is in all Australian form, I’d say nullifying him was a huge win for us. He dominated TDK every time we took Pitto out of the ruck. What was worse was TDK couldn’t even beat their second ruck. One thing we did get right was picking Pittonet for yesterday’s match.
Also I disagree with you bindi that TDK is a ruck fwd, he’s shown nothing as a fwd. Yesterday was his big chance to make his case as a fwd. he failed masively. Hopefully we can get a couple of good picks for him as he’s a list clogger for us. Not good enough as first ruck, not good enough as ruck/fwd.
Yeah I see your reasoning. Xerri’s a great ruckman etc.
But it is a metaphor for the club game style actually that they chose Pittonet. Let’s go defensive and “break even”. The game style is also all about defense first, little aggression. Little offense.
I heard Jonathan Brown rave about Pittonet’s big body yada yada.. but that’s a bit dull when you consider Young actually played well against North earlier in the season.
When did Pittonet last do more than “break even” against North?
An aggressive option would have been Young. 17 possessions, 3 marks, 1 goal, 8 hit outs last time vs north. & you have a third option like Cripps to pinch hit in ruck.
Don’t get me wrong.. I think Young is an average footballer at AFL level, but he at least has runs on board vs North.
The other problem is small forwards. Time to reassess who makes the team out of that lot.
