If the injury to Oscar Allan is serious then expect Harry's trade value to skyrocket.
Straight swap to the Lions for Wilmott and Lohmann.

Lohmann another with recurrent injury problems, him and Will Day are some pretty odd recommendations from our fan base, I must say.

for harry, i'd specifically be looking for a quality winger and small forward and a pick. i think that's possible.

we can find a much cheaper option for the lead up forward role/ bring the ball to the ground and chop outs in the ruck. hell, young did just as much for our structure in his forward negating role, than what harry has done on his 900k per year

Lemmey will debut next week.
If he can be a target forward and further upfield, I like the idea of 3 for 1.
Lemmey took a few amazing marks on the defensive side of the wing yesterday and for the last month.
He’s only 21yo tho, so there will be ups and downs.

Agree

Ridiculous to think of targeting injury prone players given our past record.

Martin will break down again at Geelong. If not, there’s something in the water. Cats can’t seem to keep Guthrie fit

Yes he did. In 2023 Rnd 19 to first Elim vs Swans. Then missed the Dees game. We won all those games.

Not a fan of the way De Koning is playing this contract business.

Thing is, we have to leave that $1.1m offer on the table, otherwise there’s no compensation. That’s a big chunk of the money, war chest or not.

So, when Tom “licker licence” Morris gets on camera & declares that De Koning desperately wants to stay, but the gap between the two numbers is too great… just know that those words mean jack shit & he’s not the only player on our list represented by his management.

Sam McClure (I know) said that TDK is leaning to staying after asking for a meeting with Wright and asking “if I’m going to stay at the club, what is going to change”?

For me I like TDK but at the same time if he wants to go then so be it.
However, I would be talking to the AFL and asking given the size and length of the contract as well as the caliber of player he is, if we acquire another FA, what size and length contract would upset our first round compo pick for TDK.
Because if we were to trade him, he'd be at least 2 early first rounders.

On Footy Classified last night

Quote:
Sam McClure revealed Tom De Koning had signalled a desire to remain at Carlton by asking for a meeting with incoming chief executive Graham Wright on Friday.

“They had that meeting above the gym at the football club in Brian Cook’s office … and in that meeting, Tom De Koning essentially asked Graham Wright: ‘if I am going to stay at this football club, what is going to change?’,” McClure said.

McClure said there had been a sense of “resignation” at Carlton that the star ruckman would depart for St Kilda’s massive long-term offer, but the meeting had renewed hopes he could be retained.

https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/afl-tv-wrap-st-kilda-confirms-max-king-setback-laura-kanes-key-role-in-jamarra-comeback/news-story/7c755f9518d611514b42e43e617a76ca

I wonder if TDK wants to make the salary sacrifice as other stars have made to keep the group together, and talk Harry is up for trade has him thinking if staying isnt going to keep to group together.

I doubt Wright want to pay any ruckman $1M, and might tell TDK everything is up for discussion at Carlton and change is inevitable, therefore encouraging TDK to walk.

Not sure how you think this strategy would work sidex

Carlton would have to match the $1.7M offer to keep him, then let Saints try and find 2 first rounders?

Anyway, logged onto TC to discuss the cost of Bulldogs midfield:

English
Bontempelli
Treloar
Liberatore...contract ends in 2026
Richards
Freijah...contract ends in 2026

Then add Darcy, Jamarra and Naughton.

TDK....English
Cripps...Bontempelli
Walsh....Treloar
Hewett....Liberatore
Cerra......Richards
Lord.......Freijah

Curnow.....Darcy
McKay......Naughton....McKay
Weitering....Jamarra
Silvagni......Lobb
Haynes......Jones
Dale........Williams

I'm still convinced we have room to move and an extra $1M if TDK leaves is a good wad of money

My point was his value.
If he was in contract and we were to trade him for that contract value, you would be asking for 2 firsts.
As he is not and his contract offer is so large, what would it take with a FA coming in to the Blues to jeopardise that 1st round compo.
There must be a threshold.
i.e. If we get a FA on 700k for 3 years, it won't effect that band 1 compo.
