You might be right but remember we have Jagga to return and probably Cody Walker in next year's draft.
Hopefully Ison, Dean and the pick we get from the TDK compensation turn out to be quality players.

I don'tknow the inner working of the club but I worry about trading certain players.

I get trading stalwart players that might have only a year of two left (as Hawks did) but..............

Cripps, SOS, Walsh, Charlie, Harry and Weiters are the guys you must keep for the solidarity of the Club. At their best, these guys will win you #17. Time is still on their side.

It is still the bottom 6-8 that make the difference, not the top 6. Of course, the Top 6 must be A Grade, but the rest carry the hopes and dreams.

Those 6 are the heart and soul of the Club and the support base. I love TDK, but he is the one we can let go to reap some rewards.

TDK is replaceable as a ruckman. I'm not sure the other 6 are equally as replaceable and if they were the cost would be huge as well as the time frames involved. I would still be having some talks with O'Brien if they think TDK is going.

OFF-CONTRACT CROW ‘WORTH MORE’ THAN OFFER

Meanwhile, free-agent Adelaide ruckman Reilly O’Brien is “happy to run the gauntlet” on negotiations over his next contract.

The 29-year-old veteran mulled a two-year offer from the Crows, but according to reporter Tom Morris, O’Brien is of the belief he’s “worth more” than the most recent deal tabled.

“He’s holding out because he believes he’s worth more than what Adelaide has offered,” Morris told SEN Breakfast on Tuesday.

Yes , every Club in the comp crave key forwards and we have two of them . Unloading these blokes would be insanity imho . Be grateful for what we have and build around them . Very good Cazz . Re TDK , yeah , as hard as it would be to lose him after doing all the ground work it wouldn't be the end of the world . O"Brien is a fairly decent replacement . After all , he cleaned TDK up in our loss against Crows .

The Hawks lost Buddy and won 2 premierships after.

We're not bringing in McEvoy, Lake, Frawley, Gibson, Hale and Burgoyne any time soon. They more than make up for Buddy exiting to free up cap space and play seniors in their window.

TDK can leave if he wants a million or more, but we'll need to snag a Hewitt, Acres or Newman equivalent in the ruck (cash and trade value) to fill the void in the ruck.

If the rumour of us offering O’Reilly a contract is true, then we will have a Pitto clone on the list to replace TdK.
I’m happy with Pitto but having another is a shocking move.

I see him as a Pittonet replacement. O’Keefe plus O’Reilly plus another young O’Ruck would be fine given we also have Young, Lemmey and MacKay who can second ruck.

I agree with your overall thought, so then keep Pittonet. O’Reilly isn’t an upgrade and concentrate on trading in something we need like some speed….

Yeah, that’s two players. Neither have played a game. They could be the next Judd or could be the next Paddy Dow, but either way it’s two players. Have a look at the rest of the league and the talent that other clubs have coming through. We are a million miles away

Just to get clarity for those saying I would trade player x. If player x has a contract and wants to stay you can't trade him.

So all this talk about trading Harry Cripps Walsh and Charlie is a waste of bandwidth unless they want to leave.

Wright can do F all if they want to stay

Brodie Grundy might have a different opinion on this.

Quote:
Brodie Grundy thought he’d be a Magpie for life.

The star ruckman inked a lucrative seven-year, $7 million deal with Collingwood ahead of the 2021 season, only to be dealt to a rival two years later.

Grundy opened up on the bombshell moment the club went against his wishes and opted to trade him away during the off-season.

While technically you can't, the clubs have their ways.
Quote:
The 28-year-old revealed how he received no support from Collingwood coach Craig McRae which fuelled him to want to move on and exact revenge on the club at a new destination.

Despite the wasted year, at least new players are getting blooded. Number 7 this week.

Firstly his name is O’Brien, secondly he’s destroyed TDK every time he plays him securing Brownlow votes in one game, and coach’s votes in another.

Surrey if you can't see O'Brien is a better alternative to Pitto then.....................nah I've got nuthin'. Sorry. Not even in the same postcode, not even in the same State. O'Reilly's ability to get on the park, week in week out, says it all.

Pittonet is lame.
His body is not reliable. Break glass.

OReilly has been a consistent player. Fronts up every week and marks around the ground….and runs.
