What happens after he wins it?

Good question.

What I can tell you is that amongst the 121 players that:

- In an average game, attend more than 10% of their team’s CBAs
- Have played more than 5 games this season
- Are not rucks or key position players

On the raw numbers, he is the #1 threat by foot in the comp, where ‘threat’ is a measure of how likely a kick is to result in a score. He’s ranked 9th against expectation (i.e. degree of difficulty).

He is a forward though, so he’s going to be favoured by any measure with scoring at it’s base.

If we look at retention (i.e. whether a teammate retains the ball), Walsh is our best amongst the sampled group. He’s ranked 22nd, though he sits just below expectation when considering the type of kick.

Motlop is 42nd for retention & well above expectation for the type of kick. He also goes at better than 90% for first possession to clearance (total, not just CC), compared to a league 2nd worst 71% for the team.

All of this is moot, since his opportunity isn’t going to increase while we play the two inside mids.

Stats are complicated.

Seems to me when I watch him he just gets tackled.

Maybe there aren’t enough instances to provide a suitable sample?

It’d be more interesting to me to see a mash up of all his centre bounce interactions as a compilation and rate him based on that.

I haven’t seen every game but the ones I have seen he’s been worse than useless.

 love the old bean call by braithy. I actually do. I love my age because it has never been a barrier for me.
Lucky for me I'm younger by actions than most my age, and younger.

I'm, not really doing sums GE just shooting away with frustration as you can tell.

I believe Motlop may come good, but he isn't developed enough imo, even though he's 22yo, but he can get better, but for me not in the seniors to find form. He's lacking confidence to d his spot in the seniors any justice imo.

People use stats to make an argument. They leave out some stats to suit their agenda.
Not saying Cru has an agenda. I don't know what Cru is saying TBH, but I understand what the stats he presents suggest.

Motlop is made to look elite. My eyes and most other watchers eyes tell a different story. I wonder why?

Fk percentages. Give me raw numbers.

I like to look at it this way.

What is Motlop's TOG to win his 4-9 disposals per game? Maybe 1-2 disposals per 23% GT? He's a ghost.

AND

in that time, how many scores does he create and kick himself? 7 goals in 11 games.

How many of his 4 tackles per game are at the CB's? If its most, then what is his role when playing forward and WTF is he doing other than the abovementioned stats.

I'm not writing Mots off, but I do think he needs to find form and confidence in the twos. He may make it with development, or, with a different coach.

No Harry McKay at main training today, with the club choosing not to disclose why he was away from Ikon Park - a watch ahead of selection

If Harry is likely out, why drop Young? I don't get it.

There'll be three blokes hanging off Charlie all game.

Was hoping for that too. Maybe they think north or west coast would be a better debut game
