Jack Silvagni (hand) and Zac Williams (calf) were declared unavailable earlier in the week, while Matthew Cottrell was withdrawn from the trip to Adelaide on Thursday due to an ankle injury that saw him unable to complete main training. His recovery will be assessed early next week.

Replacing Silvagni in a key defensive post could be Lewis Young, with the native South Australian performing a crucial utility role for the Blues at multiple stages already in 2025.

Lachie Cowan also returns for his first game since Round 4 after making a successful return from a hamstring injury in the VFL last week, while the Blues will also call upon the experience of Sam Docherty, who was best afield for the Carlton Reserves in a narrow win a week ago.

Cotts becoming way too injury prone now also.

Crows fans on their socials bemused at the inclusion of Brodie Smith. Fogarty and Thilthorpe both named.

Some big outs for them to offset ours. Injuries are no excuse. If we're fair dinkum back, we win this.

That's a pretty cumbersome side we've named

Changes make sense. Keen to see Boyd in the side but no complaints with Cowan and Doc

doc just can't run at afl level anymore. he's a liability no matter what his vfl form suggests. not sure who we have in the reggies we could have used, maybe a campo twin?

Not sure I would put a line through him just yet. He’s only played a handful of games after another year out. But if he didn’t play the one I’d be looking at is Boyd. Reckon his kicking could be useful on a wing

I'm ok with giving docherty a chance to redeem but if he can't provide a meaningful experienced contribution this week or next id rather someone inexperienced running around like a headless chook for the rest of the year Unfortinately time is no longer on his side so hopefully he gets his shit wired

Personally I fear Doc is also done.
He played a great game in the 2s but he needs to come in and be physical if he wants to play seniors, which I really hope he does.
But as a club we can not afford to have another Marc Murphy year of bruise free football just to hit some milestone or heart felt responsibility to a player that bleeds Blue.
We need to win games and make finals.
Our drafting, trading and retention of players all depends on this.
Not to mention our memberships and supporters mental health.

Let's hope he kills it, doesn't shirk a single contest and is back to his damaging best.

Doc should only be in if he's the sub

Our problem is we are way too loyal.

We need to start making some tough calls no matter how much we love the player and what they mean to the club.

We all love Doc. But his strength was his kicking - and now that is no longer the case.

Give him a job at the club instead. But we need to talk him into making the call to retire.

It was so wrong for us to play him in the final last year straight from injury. Slap in the face to other players.

Doc has only played a handful of games since coming back from a knee reco. Why are we so certain he can’t find some form again? I mean he may be cooked, but the sample size is pretty small to determine that categorically. Since he’s on the list for this year, I’m willing to give him some more time

Binns is the best fit from the reserves. We’re getting dangerously close to asset preservation with him.

As for Doc, his preseason has been all about working from inside to out, so I’d hope he’s not coming in to patrol a fat side wing. If we can bring him in as a sub to play 20-25 minutes as a centre-forward, he’ll probably rack up half a dozen clearances amongst 10-15 possessions.

That's what the reserves team is for...

Sure, but at some point you need to play seniors to see if you can still perform at AFL level. All I’m saying is that I’m still open minded that he may be able to rediscover some form and I’m happy for him to be given that opportunity. I think it’s a fraction too early to write him off completely

This has got to be the most flaccid Thursday/Friday night game combo of all time. Literally the score of one game across the two games

Win this by at least a goal and we will be in the 8 by the end of the week. Could be as high as 6th

None of those teams are doing anything remotely impressive.

We’re 3-4.

Time to go 10-4.
