What I noticed in the Bulldogs game was that we started to play a bit more like we did in the preseason. Kicking it to a free player and maintaining possession, and pressure heaped on by the midfield group.

Noticed it for 4 quarters vs Eagles and North. It continued against the Cats. Uncontested possessions and marks through the roof. 45 degree passes, lateral passes. Maintaining possession and control. Even controlling the tempo v Cats.

I think we've found what works for us.

SOS missing hurts. Williams will be missed by he hasnt played more than 65% GT when playing 4 quarters and he's gone off the groung injured early in a couple of games. We proved to have ample small forwards to cover him. Great to see Fog do a job on Stewart.

With TDK vs O'Reilly, I think we have an advantage in the middle.

4 quarter effort and I think we can get that Crows monkey off our back.

Roll the dice. Silvagni and Williams out. Bring in Boyd and Doch.

If Haynes also out then bring in Young.

What happened to Haynes? He was voted BOG so when was he injured?

Landed on his shoulder and looked very sore, possible AC joint, but he played out the game so guessing it was just a stinger and he's fine

He landed pretty square on the ground, so more likely something that set the nerve endings on fire than an AC joint.

That’s just my guess though. Any number of fractures are also in play with that type of impact.

Like Cerra, he was running pretty hot, so the fact that he played out the game is irrelevant. If he was changing nappies yesterday morning, he should be right.

Watch this 20 minute video if you are keen to see what we been doing amongst the mids.

We are not predictable even when we are.

TDK is da man.

So what are we thinking?

3 out, 3 In?

I will go with............

Lewis, Weiters, Boyd
Saad, McGovern, Haynes
O.Hollands, Grippa, Acres
E.Hollands Harry Cotters
Durds Charlie Fog

TDK, Hewitt, Walsh

Whitey, Lordy, Carroll, Ben Campo

Emg Mots

Weiters - Walker
Lewis - Thilthorpe
McGovern - Fogarty

Mots struggled last week. I doubt he will get dropped but, Emergency for me. Having said that, I don't think he is a suitable Emg, so yes, it is a copout on my behalf.

Boyd is in because the Crows have some slippery customers.
Ben Campo had a strong VFL game. I just want to give him a shot in his hometown, infront of Friends and Family.

I am probably more of a fan of Cowan than some here, but I can't push him into the team this week ahead of Carroll.

I think we've found what works for us.

Acres going at 70% or better since returning.
Haynes near-flawless for the past month.
Silvagni arguably the most damaging kick in the side.
Work rate from Cottrell, White, Elijah (among others) opening up Walsh’s run & handball game.

Not to mention a little bit of addition by subtraction…

We all know we’ve had some horror shows against this mob, especially in Adel, but it would sure be massive if we can pinch this one.

We played some good footy last weekend, but we still need to fix our F50 entires, there was some absolute shockers (like the kick directly to the Cats player in-between Harry and Charlie). IMO we should've smashed them given how good our defence and D50 transition was.

Being that wasteful this weekend will be a lot more costly, especially not having JSOS down back to help stop their very well functioning forward line.
They are the #1 points for team and #8 points against (we are #10 and #4 respectively).
So for me the game will be won by stoping them as best we can defensively, but more importantly, making every F50 entry count and being more damaging in front of goals.

I hope we are building on last weekends performance, as it is becoming more enjoyable to watch them play again.

Adam Cerra’s ban has been downgraded to a fine. He is free to play.

So, just the two changes then.

I reckon the top options are:

Young - if they want to shore up the height in the backline and provide a bit of added flexibility.
Cowan - probably knows the defensive systems better than the other candidates. Isn't as tall as JSOS, but he's similarly determined.
Docherty - Could play at either end, really, replacing Silvagni or Williams. He played quite well across half-back in the reserves.

One imagines that Lord comes into the 22, so we're probably only replacing Silvagni and the sub.

Good that Cerra is off but infuriating that it went that far in the first place.

The umpire didn't pay a free, the Geelong players didn't remonstrate, & even from that fairly unconvincing footage it wasn't definite that he chinned the guy.

I think it’ll be Young (or O’Farrell) and Cowan. We’ll try & play seven back as much as possible.

Docherty the obvious sub, but starting with the extra defender might call for a forward half pressure type. So… Evans.

It’d be a great send off for Buzz if someone could strip the ball from Nankervis & kick a goal.

Like the look of that Caz. Cowan and Doc will be in the mix as well but I think Young is a must and I'm keen to get Boyd back in the side.
