Watched the game without an empirical influence. Just the eye test.
I had plenty on it. Lost the 10 goals plus, and 6 goals plus.
More than happy to win 3 goal play.
We won. Playing our way.
The media acknowledged it.
We are the real deal when we score goals. The rest is a given

KPDs Weitering Silvagni invincible
KPFs mcKway Curnow irrepressible
MIDs Cripps Hewett Walsh Cerra contest bulls quick hands and drive
RUCKS DeKoning McKay in control and drive

CAST Elijah Saad Haynes McGovern …I’ve had a couple….later…..

YOUTH …..Lord Carroll…. the whole team played Aussie Rules at its hardest allowed these days……

…… like I said I’ve a a couple

That is a win that defines a season.

I don’t think I have seen a more even effort from all our players outside of today for a while, including Gov. Best game I think I’ve seen from him - ever. I can mention many but just 2 - I thought Ollie was just sensational and his gut running was elite and Harry is back!!! So proud of the boys.

We stood up on so many times throughout the day when challenged. We fought and fought and fought. It was a great game by us.

Ps. Don’t anyone ever tell me we aren’t good enough. Just can do it!!!

Geelong Adelaide GWS all losing really opens up the ladder. Only a game behind 5th, with a very healthy percentage. Next 4 weeks are huge. Adelaide, Saints, Sydney, GWS. All winnable, all losable. Keep playing bold attacking footy and out pressure the opposition and we can win all 4

Maybe we haven't completely broken Walsh

It’s not natural for me to be optimistic (lol). I’m hoping we’ve got our real bad patch out the way already and we can now really make our mark on the season.

Long way to go and we still have much RFI but the opportunity is there…

Geelong had a 6 day turnaround
We had 9
Geelong were 5% off
We were 100% switched on
The competition is so even
The players
SOS in defence suprised me
The Hollands boys have been great
Elijah makes a huge difference
Great decision maker Ollie has improved
Like Carroll did some stupid things but is a penetrating kick and has a crack
We need a guy in defence who can kick the football well
He may be it
McGovern McKay and Haynes were great today but I want to see that consistently
Haynes plays on the small and medium size forwards
He stays put in defence when his opponent goes up
the ground consequently he gets a lot of easy marks
Stats can lie
We recruited a 33 year old to be role player in defence so according to the club our premiership window
is open
I still think we are a few players short of a flag
Our small forwards arnt consistent enough

The best thing about this year is we have been hard to score against
You have no chance winning a flag if your in the bottom 12 for scores against

We have very little depth and with a 0 -4 start we need to win as many games as possible
It’s important to rest keys players
We may not have that luxury
The team that wins the big one peaks at the right time

Geelong were ripe for the picking
The game in Adelaide will be far harder

25 disposals for Elijah.

Just sums things up in congestion and doesn't panic like some others.

Wow

I knew he had about 15 telling disposals.

Good game.

Good to see our team with Charlie Harry and Elijah up and at them.

That, and an increase in F50 pressure from small forwards, has been the difference.

Our defense has got even better with Gov and Haynes AA in sync and excelling

Superb win

Great to blow the cobwebs out of Harry and Elijah.

Haynes best game and McGovern best game this season.

If we fix up the last ball we can worry a lot of teams

is it hyperbole to say Silvagni looks like his old man at the back? crashing packs, winning 1-on-1's all over the ground, intercepting and smart with the ball in hand.

mcgovern musta had some rocket lit up his anus after our first 4 weeks. this last fortnight is the best ball he's ever played. didn't shirk it once, and given he had multiple chances to, it's saying lots.

can't shake the feeling this win came at a cost. 5 guys to my mind could struggle to get up. it's such a competitive and hard game. 24 game seasons is outrageous. usually it's the healthiest team wins, not the best. imo it's afl's achilles for a while now.

Not long home from the game and the replay is on.
Our best win for a fair while, I almost forgot what it was like to go to a winning game.
Haynes was fantastic and that will quieten a few critics.
I was worried early in the final quarter when Geelong kicked those first few goals. We showed composure and stopped their run.
So happy for Harry and how good was it when the crowd started cheering when he was having a shot at goal.
The ground must have been slippery as many of our players in particular kept falling over. Our skills still let us down at times and hitting targets is a problem.
I just read another post that there were other injured players besides Williams. Is it true JSOS has a broken hand and there is an issue with Cerra?
Great games by McGovern, both Hollands, Hewett, Charlie and in fact the whole team contributed.
Go blues.

I thought it was measured and reasonable
The competition is so even
See you next week
13 wins will probably get you in the 8
So 10 to go maybe 11

I think most here have covered the game well. Although I want to put a big spotlight on both Gov and Haynes.

Haynes - easily his best game, and showed why he was All Australian, but he did it against very, very good opposition today. There was one spoil at least in particular, that he had no right getting to, and he was able to stop a certain mark - and at full tilt.

Gov - probably the best game I've seen him play in Navy Blue. There were numerous occasions where he was the only one around a pack of free Cats players and he just had to split the difference at best. Well, on one specific occasion, he made a bee-line directly at a loose hard ball to not only kill the contest with three or four Cats players on his hammer waiting to swoop, but he won the ball and created a contest which resulted in an awesome goal. Dare I say it, but that was footy porn!!

One of the things I have liked is Voss has clearly made some statements
Dropping Docherty
Obviously has read the riot act to McGovern
The club is bigger than the individual

It does seem that way, doesn't it?

And what's more impressive is that he's been able to do that whilst still keeping his cool when speaking publicly.

It's easy for us to say that he's being too soft on them and not demanding better from the players based on his press conferences, but who knows what he's like behind closed doors.

It's easy to forget that this bloke was once one of the toughest players in the competition. Maybe the players still see that side of him, from time to time.

I just watched Voss presser after the game today.

Like him or loathe him as a good or bad coach, there is one thing that is certain in my eyes at least:

He loves this club
He is invested in it
He has been consistent with his messaging around we have been doing a lot right - but its all about doing it consistently and longer.
He has NOT lost the players
He loves winning.

May it continue.

I will also add....

Third quarter - Cats kicked two goals in a row - Carlton held their nerve and turned it around to win the quarter and increase its half time lead.

Last Quarter - Cats kicked the first three goals in a row. Here, I am watching that happen and sweating, thinking the ghosts of Carlton past will come in and we get belted. Not to be, this time, the boys stood tall, turned it around and WON.

A massive win - in anyone's view...

Corey Durdins mark and goal - I could watch that on replay for hours :)
