We Play Geelong in 2 weeks time at the G. That will be the Make or Break for this footy club this year!

Assuming we can get past the Eagles & Kangaroos, The Game against the Cats will show if we have any fight left in us. After that Game, the Kids can come in and Voss will happily Give up!
Geelong last year was the highpoint tactically and in terms of execution of Voss's tenure. We were ferocious with pressure, bold by foot, and solved the Tom Stewart problem to perfection.

Hard to think this year will be the same.

Match committee are useless, no balls. No brains.
We keep picking the same type of coach on reputation to no avail.
No wonder our development has been pathetic for 20 years.

Others are up and down, we are just down.
The only thing that gets us through is roar talented

No we don't.

Pagan - premiership coach
Ratten - highly credentialled assistant and favourite son
Malthouse - premiership coach
Bolton - highly credentialled assistant
Teague - highly credentialled assistant and former player
Voss - highly credentialled assistant, former senior coach, former AFL champion

From all accounts, Cripps is playing sore and struggling

Could there not be a better game to strategically manage him and rest him???

This not only helps him in the short term with his body but gives a junior player (eg. Lord) another opportunity to step up to AFL level

We can froth at the mouth as much as we want about our poor development, but this is a perfect opportunity to fast track that development at the source (in the cut and thrust of senior football)

Such a predictable organisation with the same predictable outcomes...we are the template for Einstein's theory of insanity

Good luck telling your captain, when you're 0-4, to rest because he's a bit sore.

It shouldn't be his choice. He was a minimal contributor last week. Give a fit player the role.

:thanks: :thanks: :thanks:

Roar Talent, demonstrated by the Brisbane Lions in the 2024 Grand Final.

Round 13 of 2023, we just lost our 8th game out of 9 and suffered our 6th consecutive loss. To Essendon*. We were 15th on the ladder at Round 13.
We went on to play off in a preliminary final.

And here we have posters hoping we lose or not caring after 4 games. FFS, I understand people are frustrated but that is ridiculous.
Our defence has been worked on and is in good shape. Only 5 teams have conceded less points. The top 4 teams (one who has played less games, including the premiers who have conceded the same as us, and the other grand finalist. We're the number one team in the AFL at defending ball movement.

Our problem is obviously offence but we haven't had a forward line. Harry is back and hopefully in a good place, Charlie is getting fitter every game and Durdin will make a difference. As will Elijah and Fantasia when they return.
Talk of blowing up the list, sacking people and wanting to lose is crazy.

Some of the same people who are bagging the shit out of our list are the same ones saying we were a good shot at winning the flag last year. We're blooding young talent in consecutive weeks and the wins will come. Keep the faith.

Seriously, are you actually bringing up Fantasia, FANTASIA?!, to support your argument?!

The drafting of Fantasia, and the continued selection of Fantasia over the kids, basically epitomises everything wrong with Carlton in the 21st century, and sums up Voss in a nutshell.

Yet fans are still pinning their hopes of a turnaround on him? Wow. Speechless.

I've slept on this, and, my stance hasn't changed.

I am flying over tomorrow morning, partially hoping we lose.

That's where I'm at with this club.

I don't know about others, but I'm no longer satisfied with wins against subpar opposition. A win is no longer a win in my eyes. I want more from this club.

A win will simply delay what needs to be done and use up valuable time and potentially destroy kids' careers and confidence.

Sun is setting. View of the harbour. It’s still warm.
Like every week of every round I look at how we can win.
That’s half the fun. I’m in heaven knowing we are a chance, again.

It’s not a gimme game. We’ve been burnt round 1, recent.

Oscar is out to make a statement after his showing last week
Reid the same, different reasons…plus the challenge of rips with a hip injury ??
Kelly idemoted. Statement.
Tall timber albeit young are doing as much as our boys; a half.
Neutral territory…sorta…a lot of Carltonians, like me, decided not to go… Im regretting it, but it’s for best.

Righto… we have a game to win.

TDK-McKay in the ruck. There’s a good start.

Waitress is coming…gotta do some more thinking

I heard that Elijah and a number of others not "selected" at this stage are being flown over by the club.

Maybe part of this is to have some team bonding times, but I'd suggest a couple of late changes are on the way....

i love your optimism and i really hope you're right.

i can't help this nagging feeling that the magic of 2023 was ever so fleeting, and we're now back with our normal programming.

... for example you point out our defensive credentials. which is true, those are the numbers. but when i watch us play, i see we cheat. we cheat defensively by sending players to the contest, by not allowing other players up the ground. and this is what costs us offensively - and not that we have a makeshift forward line. the F50 entry has little to do with the forwardline personnel and more to do with how we cheat defensively, and moving forward, there is no one to move the ball to. there's no run from behind, no carry or handball chains. so we bomb it long.

back to 2023, durdin was without a doubt, our worst small forward. i remember you and i had an argument bcos i said delist, and you said he has potential. again, i hope you're right and he proves he can be the difference and also proves he can stay on the park.

time will reveal all. but i have a horrible sinking feeling.

No we don't.

Ratten - highly credentialled assistant and favourite son
Malthouse - premiership coach

Voss - highly credentialled assistant, former senior coach, former AFL champion

Who had the balls to actually reward form build a culture.
We have had coach after coach on not making statements and enforcing standards.
The coach sets and enforces standards, if he hasn’t got any the players take advantage.
This is the reason we have den a crap club for 30 years

I can't agree about "cheating", Braithy. Every team pushes half forwards up to the stoppage. Usually to match up the winger who is there for the feed back. It's how we usually have a spare behind the ball. The same as opposition teams do.
In fact, I'd suggest a lot of teams push their forwards up more than we do. So they can get us on the way back with overlap run. It's exactly how Richmond got us, and Hawthorn.

Did you watch the vfl game last Saturday?
He played the full game and (surprisingly) looked fit enough.
He played with intent, enthusiasm and brains.
He was one of our best and looked it.
We need his linking play around half forward.
I'd be happy to see him play.
