This list is cooked. We had our chance in 23/24 but weren't good enough.

Haynes 33 yo
Docherty 32yo
Saad 31yo
Gov 31yo
Williams 31yo
Cripps 30yo
Hewett 29yo

The rest of the team are all younger than the abovementioned oldest players.
The abovementioned are not the reason we lost last night.

Our eldest statesman Docherty had 14 disposals in one quater or 27% game time
Our backline (abovementioned) and midfield were not the reason for our loss last night. They allowed 13 goals 4 against them. That's not a criminal offense.

The backline and midfield gave the forwards 65 inside 50's for a 9 return. 25 more F50 entries than Tigers. We lost by 13 pts. That's on the forwards.

I don't think the problem can be attributed to a 'cooked list'. That's a throw away line in frustration to justify the assertion this first round loss is what to expect for the rest of the year.

WTF did the forwards do to be blameless in the loss?

Mate, did you see the quality of the forward entires from our “blameless” midfield?

Maybe the forward leading patterns weren’t there, but I can’t see that on the TV. The main things I blame the forwards (and mids) for is inaccuracy.

My point is simple:

We ARE winning "fair share" of the ball in the midfield. Its in our hands. Right?
We move it forward of centre and deliver ball into our f50. Right?

What I am pointing out is players/ mids are consistently bombing it into F50 whether under pressure or not. Why?

It has to be by Deisgn. Get it?

Why blame the KPFs for sticking their hands up for the pass, or midfielders who kick it where the forwards are stationed? Key word: Stationed.

Against that backdrop, to me it is really obvious the plan for the F50 bomb is for:

Charlie or Harry to mark it (and with a 3 headed monster maybe SOS and TDK to provide the other 3rd marking option)

OR

To bring the ball down for the 5 smalls to out number defenders and go to work in their area of influence.

So what are you "blaming" our midfielders for exactly?

Not following coaches instructions?

How can youthink mids are not following coaches instructions when Bombing it into F50 has been our modus operandi with last 3 coaches and ever since we drafted our twin towers Charlie and Harry?

I am saying there has to be a better method entering our forward line, or use various methods. Obvious to me a variety of drills to reward options was practsied over summer. That's all. I am blaming the coaches method and hypothesis given the calibre of smalls they expect to finish off all the good work further upfield.

Have a look at the forwards as the mids run ball forward of centre. No one is moving. Where the ph to you want the mids to kick it to?

Its an easy fix, but a huge ingrained mindset adjustment. I am blaming the Coaches plan, and the List Manger for the smalls he has delivered, but I also know we can change things by changing things and working to the strengths of our list and challenges injury creates.

Does that make more sense?

I agree the bomb is by design. A defensive mechanism to make sure we have 15-18 players behind the ball.
I am sure they have stats on what is best for us to score from and not be scored against from.
They could claim goals like Acres first goal of the game was due to the initial bomb.
Who knows! But we do get burnt the other way once it gets over the back so I would assume that going deep is to minimise risk of that happening while still giving us a chance to score.
Like most teams taking that one extra short pass between 70m and 50m that takes the ball off the line opens up a scoring chance signicantly. Most teams do their hardest to stop their oppo from getting the short pass. It is a tricky game. Particularly when you have a team with no legspeed or elite kicking skills.

Can’t put in to words how low I’m feeling. It’s not even anger. Despondent, sad, depressed, bewildered. Just @#$%&! low.

How can we be back here, again?

Don’t think I’ll ever see another flag in my lifetime. It’s like we are destined to never be true contenders again. If I had my time again, I’d allow my son to support another team. Brutal what they’re doing to us.

Club is in a very, very ugly position. Extremely choppy waters to navigate.

Round 3 are we are basically done.

Will we make the decisions required to salvage something from the season? I suspect not.

Could not be more Beyond Blue.

Can we merge with Tassie?
Would the other clubs need to vote on that?

Looking at 2025 you have to ask where is the improvement coming from to win another 4 or 5 games and finish top 4.

The way I look at it these players will not get better you have seen what they offer and it is as good as it gets
Charlie Harry Owies Cripps Walsh Hewett Kennedy Fantasia Acres Newman Pitto Saad Weiters Gov JSOS Docherty Cotrell Fogarty Boyd Cunningham Marchbank Young Williams Martin and at 27 years old probably Cincotta.

So where is the improvement coming from apart from a free run of injuries.

TDK was pretty bloody good this year can he improve to Adam Goodes level
Cerra needs to discover 2023 form
Can Cowan step up

Can it be the Holland boys
Durdin Motlop can't see it

So then we get to the reserves
Binns maybe
Lord yes
Moir huge question marks same applies to Wilson Carroll the other Carroll Monohan Okeefe Mirkov Lemmey Akuei

There is not a lot there that is going to make a difference.

We need to trade . We need to do what all other clubs do when they are in the window and bring in 2 or 3 established players to replace Martin Marchbank Cunningham S Durdin

If we don't we are in the wilderness for another 10 to 15 years

I don't have faith in Austin or the club being able to do it

So… the rebuild is on?

Saw a facey comment on the cfc page. Lots of anger there. But one comment.

“Can we please stop chasing coddled and entitled private school boys who have everything. And go after a few roughnuts raised by single mums, we are soft everywhere.”

I'm just hoping to get some shred of enjoyment for the rest of the season. Glad I didn't stump up for kayo. I did buy a little aiwa tv with chromecast built in to use 7+ and be able to move the screen outside and around the house etc. Takes a couple of mins to load and sound basic but otherwise pretty good purchase for 150 or so. Cheap enough to do an Elvis if things go completely pear shaped

We have done nothing so far this off season to improve the playing list if anything we have weakened it. We can't and shouldn't be hoping that the 3 or 4 kids we pick next week are going to catapult us up the ladder.

We are going into next season hoping we can improve on one aspect we haven't been able to do in the last 5 to 6 years and that is improve the durability of the players and keep them on the park.

Even after winning spoons i would be optimistic about the following season but this is the first off season of my life and I am 60 where I am very pessimistic about the season ahead.
I cannot see where the improvement is going to come from

Another arrogant Carlton offseason being spent believing we are it. Only have to show up and we win it all.

Bcos fxk the rest.

Complacency from top to bottom. Over-evaluating our players, staff, coaching,

Our pres was so comfortable he started sending dick pics to married women.

We suck.

Have a listen to Snapper in Port Phillip Bay on Finey's Final Siren on SEN last night.
Sums up perfectly what most of us Carlton supporters are feeling right now.
Not sure how to post it here.

For the first time in years I got angry at the footy last night.
I am usually pretty quiet but couldn't contain my anger.

Everyone laughs at Snapper because he's big and burly and has a whiny voice and yells, but he's been 110% spot on each time!

Snapper is a snapper or the captain obvious daisy pearce so to say. Just listened to his rant and tc have been saying the same thing for quite some time. Not very illuminating
