Yeah , and they had great rucks , and they had great forwards , and they had great onbapllers etc etc etc . Everywhere you looked they had great players on every line . But I agree Nav , we are crying out for someone to step up and lighten the load on Weiter's .

The injury to Jagga deflated me and now with the Elijah situation I'm finding it hard to get excited about our prospects.
Hopefully Kemp is a revelation up forward, likewise JSOS and Haynes in defence, and maybe we might be pleasantly surprised by a few youngsters like the Campo's, Moir, Lord etc. If Williams and Fantasia stay fit and offer a spark up forward then maybe we can be a contender. We'll soon find out.

I have us finishing somewhere between 10-14th. I do hope they prove me wrong. A classy mid and a good KPD short of finals imo. Having said that, if this happens, I'd still keep Voss. Will watch with interest.

I'm a little more optimistic - I think 6-10th however I wont be at all surprised if we start 4-7 then the pitchforks are out for Voss and TDK will be gone!

I think we are better than that. All teams have their short comings. I think we can finish anywhere between 1 - 10 but like most teams need a good run with (a lack of) injuries.

GO BLUES!

Yes I agree all teams have their short comings and if things fall our way anything could happen. The Lions, Hawks and Swans for example lack a decent key forward. Geelong's midfield doesn't have much depth etc.

Feeling a bit the same to be honest. To win a flag, you need everything going right. There's too much going wrong. Started with Sayers. Then the injuries. Now Elijah. The trend has been set.

yeah same ... we are too slow & meandering to compete with the top teams, no penetrative kicks, no foot speed on the ground.

and if tdk, weiters or harry go down, we look like a high draft pick team, more than a top 8. losing jagga really sucked the interest out of this season.

i hope to christ they prove me wrong.

Great hope and anticipation for me . Same every year . Given a half decent run with injuries will determine our season I reckon . And if a couple of the kids emerged I would be ecstatic . Nothing gives you a kick like a new kid coming in and starring . I think Ash Moir needs to add some Dominator ferocity and he could be it . And I don't get people writing Binns off . He has a bit of Trevor Keogh about him . And Lord has a bit of Barry Armstrong about his game . Tough and relentless . And that kid Carroll will make it .

The list is great. Injury derailed us last year after sitting atop of the ladder. Same this year.

I think we can win the flag this year without Moir and Binns. I think a couple kids have put their hand up already.

Sad about the kid Smith missing this year, but Campo, the L variety has put his hand up and earned his spot ahead of Binns; that's all that is being said about Binns.

I think Carroll and White to be the other surprise packets this year; especially Carroll. He's our Mick Young, David Glascott, Shane Robertson type only taller .... imo

Yeah , agree Bondi except talking about a Flag . I just want to finish top four year after year . Consistency . And let the Flags flow from there .

I don't see it. Apart from a key defender, our list is in great shape IMHO.
I'd expect us to finish top 4. Anything less would be a failure.

I like our mids and was really looking forward to Jagga but I wouldn’t mind having a genuine express midfielder too.

Someone who just rips teams apart with pace.

Billy Willson could be that very player . Also Will White might surprise .

I agree BV, I think the loss the Newman and Smith has sucked the life out of the season for some followers.

i don't like our list - not for modern afl, and the way it's been heading towards the last season or two. pace, run, carry, dare.

we have none of that on this list. our defence was bottom four last year, and i can't see where the improvement is going to come from to make it top five (the line where it has to be, for a top 4 team, imo).

and lastly coaching. voss is the motivator who the guy's respect, but he defers to hansen for our tactical and game day strategic stuff. and that combo is imho, the worst in the afl at game day magnet moving and general gameplan.

this game tonight against the tigers, who will win the spoon, is everything i was dreading in 2025

Our last 3 seasons have seen wild fluctuations.

2022 - smoking first half, no good second half. Won’t mention the ending.

2023 - putrid first half, blistering second half and two fantastic finals win. Prelim berth.

2024 - Top 4 for three quarters of the season before falling away badly. Scraped a finals berth to put up an embarrassing display.

So what is the real us?

Our best competes with the elite of the league. But our worst is horrible, absolutely horrible.

Sounds simple but we have to much more consistent and bring our best most weeks. Do that and we will contend. If not, then it will be a long season.

We just find out what the real us is.
