It's our home game isn't it?

In all seriousness - this is a gift draw for us....

We play West Coast and North Melbourne twice FFS....

Top 4 minimum without question or excuses.

It simply MUST be the ONLY acceptable outcome based on this draw...

I don’t pay much attention to the draw until the season starts. How can we say it’s an “easy” or “hard” draw at this point? Every year there’s teams who exceed expectations and teams who do worse than expected.

The competition is so even that luck with the draw is about playing teams at the right time (eg when they have injuries or are in a slump) which we have no way of predicting in November.

We can predict it. We'll get teams when they're in form & have no injuries

Usually when they have big names coming back into the team too.

In the end, if we are good enough we will win enough to finish in the top 4 and assuming we arrive at that time of year with a healthy list, the cup is ours

I have 9 games I’m confident we’ll win, after that it’ll come down to form and injuries.

North Melbourne won't be easybeats next year.
We play Port, Hawthorn and Collingwood twice - the Pies and Hawks are currently equal 2nd premiership favourites.
The Crows in Adelaide (we're coming off a 6 day break), Swans in Sydney and Freo in Perth will be tough.
I don't get this media story about Carlton having an easy draw.

Very nice start to the year and tough finish. 5 games against bottom 3 teams in first 14. Really should be 9-5 minimum at that point. Then it gets hard. Port twice, pies, Lions, Dees, Hawks Freo in Perth. Finish with an easy one tho!

I am shocked that Geelong get a nice beneficial draw...!

All those father-son gifts are running out now, so let's go to the draw.
Someone likes Geelong a lot. All the breaks between matches...double ups etc. Extra game at Geelong. Sweeter than sugar.

Analysis

It’s all about getting a good rest for Geelong in the first 15 rounds of their fixture; and they’ll be absolutely loving it. The Cats do need to bare one five-day break before July, but in return, they’ve managed to snag a nine-day break, 10-day break, and wait for it... an 11-day break! We’re not sure how they’ve managed to land such a strong amount of rest, but when you add in the fact they’ll get an extra home game at GMHBA Stadium next season – they’ve nailed it. The Cats will play Richmond and St Kilda twice in a win but will be tasked with double ups against the likes of Brisbane, GWS and Port Adelaide in tougher games.

Fixture difficulty (based on double-ups): 8th-easiest

Noticed that they don't play their last H & Away at GMHBA which is most unusual. I guess they are compensated by playing Richmond in round 17 at home and Richmond again in round 24 at the G

This, looks a fairly tough draw to me. Port and Pies should improve on 2024, as should Hawks. God I hate Hawthorn. Not as much as Essendon*, but close. My hope with Hawthorn is that their smart arse media darlings have spent the off season slapping each other on the back and convincing themselves that the flag is as good as theirs.

Playing hawthorn in the last few rounds looked a gift in 2024.

Easily our worst loss for the year

I don't care too much about the fixture.

Same. Because we didn't play there this year we assumed we would be next year.
Might look to do a trip to one of the Adelaide games.

Yet if you listen to the media we have been gifted an easy draw.
We finished 8th which puts us in the middle 6 teams. Top 6 teams are supposed to get the harder draw and the bottom 6 an easier one. By finishing in the middle 6 we play 2 top 6 teams twice, 2 middle 6 teams twice and 2 bottom 6 teams twice.
It is no easier than other clubs who finished in a similar ladder position.
Everyone just loves to hate Carlton.

Yes. The Good Friday match is their home game.

I also want to point out that even though we play WCE twice, neither of them is our home game.
One in Perth and the other in Adelaide.
