would he replicate what we already have in moir?

Can we have enough of those types.
Remember he plays midfield too or we can put him on the wing.

Yeah , its over . All those blokes have talent but there comes a time and the time is now . Patience completely exhausted .

No one would disagree.

True, especially when you consider McGovern and Williams struggle to string a long sequence of games.

Cant continue to have such a fragile list.

Surprisingly, McGovern and Williams played 18 and 19 games respectively this season.

most games mcgovern spends 10 mins down in the rooms. it's like every bruise he gets, he convinces himself he's broken or torn something.

this season, he was particularly pea-hearted and adverse to contact. i went to around a half dozen games, and of those, i noticed he had the cleanest shorts in all of those games at fulltime. just little things like that, i picked up on.

That could be read as a player who keeps his feet.

Or doesn’t shit himself as much as the others.

Hmmm…

Lock in A Eddie.

Coach: "KEEP YOUR FEET!!!"

Supporters: "You're soft because your shorts aren't dirty!"

sure, laugh it up ... but let's be honest. clean shorts on a defender isn't a good look. they're meant to be tackling, and defending, diving spoils, desperation etc defending is a dirty job. when he walks off the field in a game where we've given up over 100 pts again, and he's beside newman and weiters who are filthy ... to me, it says alot.

for sure. he had some very good games.

when sayers bangs on about consistency, mcgovern is a great reference point. the difference between his best (which is very, very good) and his worst is a big, big distance. and this season we saw more of the latter

Calm down bro, just thought it was funny juxtaposition.

They didn't give us anything in the Final, even after a few weeks rest. That says it all for me.

Gov played so many games because he avoids contact, like he tries to preserve his body.
Williams did the same. He was so loose at HB, Vossy had to find him a new spot.

You obviously saw the front of his uniform because from the back I saw brown stains on his shorts.

With Marchbank going, McGovern injury prone and near the end of his career, and Kemp not working out as a defender I think we certainly need to shore up our defence if we are serious about contending next year.
Haynes from GWS is one option whilst Laverde has been mentioned as well. Lukosious would probably cost too much in draft capital and/or salary cap space.

B: PLAYER YOUNG Newman

HB: Saad Weitering O. Hollands

C: Acres Cripps Walsh

R: TDK Hewett Cerra

HF: E.Hollands McKay PLAYER

F: SILVAGNI Curnow PLAYER

I: Owies Cincotta Cowan PLAYER PLAYER

We have possibly 2 picks before Ben Camporeale: 11 and 31
We have 3 x 4th round picks to use on Campo boys
We may get picks from Carroll Martin Motlop and Owies, but not enough for draft quality.
We have already replaced Russell for Rob Innes

PLAYERS we need to find improvement in red

1. Small Forward with elite pace (can't rely on Durdin's shoulder at this stage)
2. 3rd tall intercept ... might be Haynes in the short term. If not find a KPD to go with Young and let Weitering play the Petty role.
3. HF to replace Martin. Maybe Moir if he can improve his engine. Need to be a goal kicker, not a defender, unless its Cincotta on Zorko
4. Midfielder with speed (can that be Wilson if we can't Trade one in?)

We can improve on the following positions but have too many other holes to fill mentioned above.

5. Silvagni is the best available Fwd-Ruck. Someone taller would be better in the ruck.
6. Young is the best available KPD (see notes on 3rd tall defender)

Developing players: Moir Lord Binns Duffy Camporeale Camporeale Wilson O'Keefe Lemmey

There must be some gems in the rough in the SAFL WAFL VFL we can find with later picks.
I want an MSD pick to be made available.

Depth

Gov is contracted and back up
Williams is contracted and back up
Kemp is back up and should be developed as a mid
Boyd I thought Boyd was a lock, but his last 2 games befre Hawks were not good enough for selection.
Pittonet's 2024 form nowhere near 2023 form and remains as a back up for TDK whilst we have SOS, and TDK is our No 1 ruck.
Docherty is contracted and plays a supportive role filling holes (because we wont fill all needs from Trade/Draft and injuries will happen).
Kennedy see Doc, and is back up for Hewett's role.
Fogarty see Doc.

In a nutshell

AFL Listed

Cuningham - pick 11 (midfielder with speed)
Marchbank - pick 31 (best small forward or KPD)
Martin Trade - Camporeale (midfielder)
Owies Trade -Camporeale (HB)
Carroll Trade- Boyd promotion

How else can we get more picks? ...some gems in the rough?

Rookie Listed

S.Durdin- KPD
Boyd- Lord
Mirkov- Ruck

Category B

Akueii - keep or improve on
Duffy - new
Monahan - existing

Can see why Owies and Carroll may be finding new homes.
All other players contracted with high salaries other than Durdin and Fogarty

Lets hope one or two of our developing players step up in 2024: Moir Lord Wilson Binns?

Spooky Rod Galt? Crusader? BV? You're good with this stuff.
Can we package picks to go higher?
Trade next years picks?

Next year is the last of "Normal trading" before Tassie concessions start in 2026.

These next 2 Drafts are critical for our future.

Start tomorrow and go through to Friday

Quote:
The review into Carlton's injury issues will include list management decisions, as the club prepares for exit interviews from Wednesday to Friday this week ahead of another important off-season at Ikon Park.
