it doesnt matter who we draft, they wont get a game unless the situation is dire

why are we looking at a 32 year old stopgap backman, when there must be younger, better backmen in lower leagues who could do the same job?

Everyone would take Petracca but IMO not at that price and not with his age, contract and injuries.

They need to ruthless start with getting rid of Voss followed by the injury prone players who take up most of the salary cap

that's the key part. we bought too many players that are genuinely good, but they came on the cheap side bcos they're often injured.

and now ... we're stuck with guys who can't even play half a season. or get thru a single game etc

But wait guys, we are getting a 32 running back that GWS dont want anymore. Sounds familiar?

He will fix the backline. Cause we are too gutless to try and scour the VFL to find one that can do a similar job with more upside.

Or we will get him as insurance, only to play VFL and take up a spot on the list rather than someone to make a meaningful impact and be a key piece for the team next year.

I don't mind the Haynes recruitment. We are binning two KPDs who contributed nothing because their bodies can't hack it. Might also be binning one or two young KODs who were never and will never be good enough. There is space for a reliable, healthy veteran KPD/interceptor - and Haynes is very much still a player, if you want to know why he's not in the seniors just watch Taylor and Buckley for a few hours, they are spoilt rotten at that club- and use another spot on a younger prospect. Then in a couple of years when Haynes retires, use his spot on either another young prospect or another cheap veteran, depending on how we're travelling. Nothing wrong with that.

Re-sign Owies and maybe Carroll.
Delist/trade Martin, Marchbank, Cuningham, S Durdin, Mirkov, Akeui, M Carroll (sign to VFL list).
Given tight salary cap, target 1-2 bargain buys (eg Acres, E Hollands). These picks seem to work better for us than the irresponsible big money splash’s - Williams, McGovern.
First pick around pick 11 has to be either a quick midfield or a key position player. Get Campo x2 plus another kid. Need more youth.
Re-sign TDK and Weiters prior to round 1 next year.

Yes and I’d give McMahon a rookie spot

Yes I agree.
Happy to recruit Haynes providing he comes cheap but we must also make a priority of picking a talented young KPD in the draft.

Yep. Like getting a second hand car for a bargain, thinking you've done well, then realizing it breaks down every couple of months

Exit interviews early in the week, probably.

Hopefully no sneaky leakers beforehand. We’re not Melbourne.

We're 1 list spot over with Lord in the MSD.

Campo twins F/S
Boyd and Cincotta need to be elevated.
Matt Duffy as a category B rookie.

I assume:
Marchbank, Cuningham, Akuei, Mirkov delisted
Carroll, Martin traded

Leaves a few question marks around S Durdin, M Carroll. Whether we'd retire Doc, does Owies stay. I assume we operate with 6 on the rookie list for cap space purposes, so one of those latter two need to go if we're bringing in Haynes. I assume then we'd be trading our first rounder out for a pick next year instead then too.

S Durdin has to be a certainty to be gone.

I’d also look to trade/offload Motlop and Fantasia. We need to bring in 2-3 fast, athletic runners who won’t cost too much.

Edit: trade or offload Williams and McGovern too.

Keep Carroll unless a good offer comes. I would add Williams to the trade list too

No more a certainty than he was last season, for the same reason, that finding another key defender in the same age bracket who is better than him, costs the same bare minimum and has some awareness of the likelihood of getting a game is nigh on impossible.

We need to bring in 2-3 fast, athletic runners who won't cost too much to replace the two you want to get rid of? What would you get for Fantasia as a trade given he was a delisted free agent? Who would replace him that ticks those boxes?

I thought that was the HP teams fault?
With the new fitness guy won't all that be fixed?
