Geelong had a home final to play for last week and got rolled badly, Saints have knocked off Sydney and lost to Port by 2 points at Marvel since the bye.
Can’t fault the effort with so many missing.

The guy tries his body is reliable
Yeah he missed but he kept Wilkie quiet
I would pick him before McGovern Williams and Martin combined
Regardless of the results over in the West today showed we have 3 players who will help us next year
Moir Binns and Lord look the goods
Our bottom 6 let us down
These 3 guys will help
The effort was 100% magnificent with so many injuries
Cripps is an all time great
Go Blues

totally agree

Oh I am so glad I missed all the angst in this thread by missing the game and watching the replay. Then flipping over to watch Port seal their win.

Kudos to Pitto as well today but proud of all the guys that took the field today. 12 seconds from glory.

To St Kilda and their carry on supporters after the siren .......
...... You insignificant and irrelevant football club ..... you always will be.

Gosh. Glad I'm not the only one of us who had the emotional roller coaster today. That was exhausting.

Had my 12 y.o. in tears after the Higgins goal. Had to detach myself from game mode & go to dad mode & pretend it wasn't the end of the world

Then there was that awesome lightning & thunder show. Then Freo/Port wasn't exactly a walk in the park & Port had nearly as much trouble taking a mark inside 50 as we did.

Port wins & my kid is back to wearing the scarf to school tomorrow. It's all good. I've got a tonne of Indian in my gut & feel about a thousand miles away from getting any sleep because I'm too busy reading oppo supporters bleeding & shitting themselves on facebook about us being in the 8

Let's enjoy the shit out of this build up to Brisbane. We qualified. We deserve it. Anyone who thinks not, doesn't understand maths.

Hipwood is shit. Cazzesman said so. Charlie Curnow will return & kick 8 for the moral Coleman.

Not even true either, with the result of the following game to determine it.

The genius was really saying that with Carlton sitting 8th on the ladder?

What a knob.

Kemp miss a shocker

But who was responsible for Higgins at stoppage.

I think it was Cowan.

What was it that Andrew Russell said.
" If you are not losing 2 or 3 on the training track you are not pushing them hard enough, you just hope it's not your best 2 or 3"

Shots missed tackles missed are coach killers
But we have had the biggest coach killer of them all for the last 5 to 6 years.

To go into last round with 12 soft tissue injuries and 20 on injury list with only 4 players playing every game and one of them was sub for 2 of them is the reason why we are in this position

According to Matthew Lloyd on "Access all areas" , Saad was on Higgins at the stoppage & vision shows it. Motlop also lost his man to allow the kick inside 50. David King also highlighted another stoppage from a loss a month or 2 back where Saads man got loose at a stoppage and kicked a goal. Walsh lost Daicos At the stoppage in the 1st Collingwood game where Daicos kicked the winner. Its been highlighted time & time again that defending stoppage around the oppositions goals is a major weakness in Carlton`s defensive structure. Why the F@#$ can`t they fix this?

From what I saw of the Owies tackle, he pinned both arms and dragged him down in one motion rather than threw him forward with a second motion. If anything, to me, it seemed that Higgins threw his own head down. And clearly, he was able to continue playing - maybe, the argument is that he never would have nailed the match winning goal if he was fully conscious???
However, given the current environment, I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets suspended. Not sure if that would be for one week or three.

Gutsy effort. The typical Carlton mix of heart and stupidity in almost equal measure.

Whilst it was a real shame to lose, it ultimately didn't really matter. Not that is ameliorates the frustration, but still.

We won 13 games, one more than the team below us.
We lost four games by 6- points, with kicks in the dying seconds.
We're two wins off third.
We have a better % than the team in 4th.
Going into the finals we've enjoyed wins against 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th on the ladder.
All this with up to 20 blokes on the injury list at times.

Some folks on this board tend to act like we're about to collect the spoon. Our path to a flag is very, very difficult. But we've played and beaten every other team we might have to play in the lead in to the GF, and we've beaten both Brisbane and Port on their home deck (which we'll probably have to do to get to the Grand Final).

I remain optimistic.

Pretty sure he thought it was like one of those Quiz' where you lose 4 points for selecting the wrong answer.

He just needs a little more education on the rules of the ladder...he will get there. He's trying.

So many experts very confident about Freo (with 1 win in their last four, that win against WCE) beating a Port that won their last 5, and hoping to secure a top 2 finish, on the basis of "they had to win to play finals".
