Oh i enjoyed writing the St Kilda footy club a little love note on X (formerly known as twitter).

Haha.

How was the carry on when the siren went?
Seriously they just beat a team with 20 players on the injury list. You would have thought they won a flag.

Well, I didn’t see the St Kilda game live due to my daughter’s birthday. So I watched the replay roller coaster and was exhausted and depressed by the finish as I thought we had the win in the bag with a minute to go with that gutsy comeback by our youngsters.

So I am flattened by the loss, then switch over to the end of the Freo game just as Port kick a goal to go 9 points into the lead. Nine minutes later we are confirmed for a final and I feel better. I am glad I didn’t have to sit through the entire Freo game hoping for a port win.

Now I am about to book a hotel for another trip to Brisbane for another final. Last year I was quite confident and we lost, this year I am not confident at all.

Yeh laughing and carrying on. Losers. I was so upset then but now it’s like we won in my eyes.

We qualify with 20 players on the injury list. We see great signs from the youngies and give them a taste of finals like footy.

And now i know we have keepers in Binns, Lord and Moir. Ollie Hollands is a leader. And we still haven seen Billy Wilson. And we will have the Campos.

We get to have some more finals exposure, and we are in it to win it.

It all starts again now in finals. Doesnt matter what occurred in the home and away season now.

Tom Morris speaking to clubs thinks we’ll be Saturday night.
This will suit me as I’m flying over to Melbourne on Friday night for Iron Maiden!

I'm feeling quite confident. I think we can take a lot of confidence from our performance against St Kilda and with McKay, Curnow and a few others (hopefully TDK) returning are a real chance.
It will be interesting to see if we take a gamble and select Martin or Williams.

I've given up on my pre-game feelings as so many have been wrong this year.

Last year 5v8 was Friday night.

Not sure why we'd risk Martin or Williams when we have Kemp & Moir fit

Would Bris have preferred Freo or (a fit and non banged up) us?

I'm pretty sure they would have preferred Freo. With Curnow, McKay and a few others (hopefully TDK) to return I think our best footy is much better than the Dockers.

No idea how you pick a team for this game.

Some of the kids have earned their spots and some 'stars' should be fit again.

Need to find the right balance somehow.

We’re in !! Sucked in St Kilda and all your carry on and laughing at the end. You busted your gut and played your granny, and you still didnt stop us from staying in the 8. And you just beat a reserves team with your full team. You Bozo’s.

I know we just limped in, but given the injuries i will take it.

This.

Had to listen to some of them yell 'go Freo' on the way to the train. Classy. You just won. Isn't that enough?

Richards.

Tall ins - TDK, Harry, Charlie and McGovern
Small ins - Williams, Cerra

I thought we had to beat the Saints to go into the finals with a head of steam.
But we put in a good shift against the Saints, coming heart breakingly short.
Now we have A Grade talent to come back.
What we've gained the past two weeks with our squad mentality!
Keep this working class effort going and we can roll teams in the 2024 Finals Series.

Brisbane will find a cure for their inaccurate kicking at goal over the next week or so

They have kicked 304 goals 306 behinds for the year.
They will kick 18 goals 2 when they play us

If I had to guess, I’d say…

Friday night - Port v Cats
Saturday arvo - Sydney v GWS
Saturday night - Brisbane v Blues
Sunday arvo - Dogs v Hawks @ Marvel… Hawthorn can get stuffed.

What do we think?

Tough choices
We have been playing with so many out we should be allowed to have 30 players for week one.

Too much risk of Martin and Cerra going down early (again).

Not sure what Cerra would bring to the table. He never looked quite ready this year. Not expecting him to be suddenly flying in the finals (as good as he can be).

I think we've at least seen in the last two weeks that we have enough talent to not be mucking around with injury prone players. Pick the fit ones. (Cripps gets a pass. He could play with a broken leg.)

I’m pretty sure the first match will be Thursday night and last one Saturday night.
