I like this, and not just because I live in Brisbane. This is the perfect opportunity to erase the ghosts of last year's Prelim and knock Brisbane out on their home ground as we should have done last year. Poetic moment of revenge.

As you know he does work with Terry and Pom at Blue Abroad, a panelist on the Jumper Punch and other Carlton social media forums and shares his views.

Paul works at SEN with Nic Negropontis. Mad Carlton fans.
Paul's main focus at SEN is horse racing.
Nevertheless, he has plenty of contacts at the club, and attends training now and then.

Ive spoken with him in the past and what he shared proved he does get inside word from track watchers and club people.
If Paolo says Gov may miss this week because of hammy tightness, there's a high chance he will miss.

Harry and Saad are likely to be available this week, along with Fantasia and Marchbank.

All McGovern has to do is just think about his hamstring and it will go.

Can’t see either Harry or Saad coming back - if Saad did a hammy against Hawthorn- that’s at least his 2nd hammy this year so it will be a minimum 21 days.

Yep. He goes into contests half arsed. Even when he stuffs up he has this smirk on his face. i said it a few weeks ago, he looks like he is deliberately taking the piss.

I reckon any little paper cut, he sooks about it.

And he always tells team mates off and complains to the umps.

McGovern & Williams being assessed

Saad, Martin, Fantasia & Marchbank likely available
Curnow & Harry each 50/50

I liked our mobility against Eagles.

Basically our 2 KPs were mobile talls Kennedy and Kemp.

Maybe if Harry comes in he plays 3rd tall

My preference is for whoever plays forward to keep mobile and the players delivering the ball into F50 lower their eyes and kick to whoever is the best option, whether that be one of the talls or a small.
And then, all the forwards swarm towards the ball in case it spills.

Lol so we'll probably lose the same amount as we get back.

Best result for us this year, other than games we played in, was the Collingwood Freo draw. If Collingwood had have won, we'd be 8th but either Collingwood or Freo could've overtaken us if we were to lose this week. If Freo had have won we'd be 9th and doomed if we lose to St Kilda and not guaranteed a spot the 8 even if we won.

As far as tall defenders required, its for the folllowing:

Caminiti 196 was injured and we find out if he's fit to play this week
Membrey 188 has found a bit of form lately.
Sharman 193 is a strong mark and kicked a couple last week
Owens is 191 and a high leaping forward
Wood 192 went forward last week too

If Young plays FB on Caminiti, Weiters can take on 2nd KPD role on Sharman.
You can see from the above we still need cover for another tall and if Gov is out, it may well be Kemp, if Harry returns.
If not....Marchbank is back, but he's not in the form he was in last years Finals series.

Its their smalls that do the most damage on the scoreboard Higgins Wilson Butler and Steele.

Dom Akeui is 194cm and is fit, just sayin…….

What I like about this was reading that Fantasia was available but they went conservative and didn’t pick him. I’m ok with him playing this week if needed.

Please let’s not gamble on Martin, Saad, Charlie or Harry this weekend.

I’d rather a full game from Lemmey, Moir, Wilson or Akuei than half a game of the above. Even worse is a full game of the above limping around half fit.

surely we never pick martin again? he cannot finish a game, and going a man down in the 1st qtr is a huge disadvantage and the kind of thing which switches momentum in a final. give Moir a go at it. young and hungry and keen to prove himself. that little bit of youth & x-factor could be just what we need

i gotta say, if martin and saad are fit after 1 week with hammies ... did they give up Vs the hawks? bcos 1 week isn't a hammy. it's tightness/ cramp.

edit: imo; essentially play the same team as last week. give those injured guns another 2 weeks rest if we qualify. if we don't make finals, so be it. a team from 7th or 8th isn't winning a flag.

Let's hope Monkey Pox doesn't get to Australia. Without doubt Marchy will be the first person to get it.

I have to say I agree with Kane Cornes. Credit to the Blues for getting the job done on Sunday, but it’s one thing to beat the Eagles and another thing entirely to beat the Saints with our depleted lineup. Lyon and the StKilda ferals will be licking their lips at the prospect of keeping us out of the finals.

It sounds like we’ll lose as many players as we get back, so we’ll be relying on our kids backing up Sunday’s effort. That’s a massive ask.

Obviously I want us to win, but realistically I just hope that - unlike the Hawks game - it doesn’t blow out and we don’t get any fresh injuries. Then it’s fingers crossed that Port do the right thing by us so we can go to Brisbane and have a free swing at the Lions….

Please don't bring in players who are 50/50. We've seen how that goes.

watch him now do a hammy at training.... :donk: but i'd be tempted to give him a go if mcgrumpy doesnt get up, and tell him to clean up a few blokes

19 on the injury list, but i didnt see williams, so thats kinda a positive

i wouldnt rush saad in, but knowing carlton, we will - play billy wilson as another running flanker and move binns forward if no mcgovern or akuei. i wouldnt play marchbank at all, he would be a liability i feel, too much time away from the game uunfortunately

curnow a test, if he is fit, i'd play him and tell him not to move from the goal square and let coleman kemp be the main man

i was really wrapteded with kemps game last week

whole game for moir and motlop sub

i'm amazed acres isnt on the injury list as well, it really did look like his shoulders were troubling him a lot on sunday
