Good changes. Cowan was a must with their small forwards. Perhaps he'll get the big job of Moore. Great to see Williams back. Fingers crossed his body holds up.

Would this be the biggest, most real Carlton Hawthorn game since the late 80s?

Looking at the squad, perhaps Cincotta will be the best sub.

I'm looking forward to seeing how a forward line would operate with Martin and Williams there. If it clicks, it could be a real weapon for us. Williams is winning most of his possessions off the deck in his stint forward where Martin is an aerial presence so hopefully they complement each other.
It will also hopefully give Charlie/Harry a bit more opportunity to get up the ground and provide an outlet for our backline. As a bonus it should see us drag a key defender outside the 50.

Cincotta's role will be interesting. Does he go to Will Day? Dylan Moore? One of the small forwards or tag a half back? Karl Amon shouldn't be underestimated. He's 3rd in the AFL for rebound 50's this year and 2nd for metres gained. He's having a strong season. Uses it very well.
The last 5 games Hawthorn are top 3 in the AFL for scoring from turnover and best in the league from creating scores in their front half. They're highly efficient kicking goals when they get it inside 50 (3rd in the AFL) but they're 17th for getting it there. Their small forwards are their strength. They don't mark the ball much inside 50 but they're good at winning one on ones. Especially getting free kicks!

Our focus should be to be aware of their duckers and divers up forward. Expect them to push their head into the tackles or to use the arm to drag the tackles high. They like to use the running handball which can hurt us, as does the exit from the front of centre bounces which they're also very proficient at. (Day)
We need a big game from our mids this week. Accountability at centre bounce, continue our strength at stoppages around the ground and as a unit, KICK STRAIGHT.

Worpel is having a good season too, bit of a quiet achiever at Hawthorn but a great decision maker & ball user.

i'm not sure martin and williams can apply the kind of ground pressure we need for turnover.

could almost see williams back in the backline to curtail some of their smalls. or maybe running through the centre? does he have the tank?

Hope we put some time into Aldi Blakey as well. He's been torching on the rebound.

You start with Williams and Martin on the field cos you know, for at least one of them, some part of their body will blow out.
