Yeah, I've heard of them.....

Not sure about that Mior bloke, but Billy plays VFL for us occasionally.

Hawks will start heading in the wrong direction today and we will continue where we left off in the last quarter last week.

Blues by 32pts as we march towards 15wins.

Hawks getting touched up is a possibility, it happened against Geelong. Pity it's in Canberra where GWS are less assured (at least in my recollection). Where I'm less bullish is on the idea we'll continue where we left off. We've seen plenty of times that we're capable of one quarter of 250 pressure rating where we score 6 or more goals and concede 3 or fewer, but we don't sustain it. If we bring it for both Q1 and Q2 - or even if we can torch them in Q1 and maintain the leading margin through smart tempo footy in Q2 - then I'll believe we're on the way back, until then it's same old same old.

I do share your optimism that a win vs Hawks will lead to wins vs Toast and Aints. 15-8 may be enough for 4th, at worst a home elimination. From there who knows, aside from Bears no one has looked like consistent flag contenders over the past two months and even they may be using all their fuel tickets after their dreadful start.

Lose vs Hawthorn and it's all over, maybe a 7th/8th and EF loss but it'll be meaningless.

Good energy in a last quarter is common for the Blues when coming out of a slump. We looked fresh in the last against Collingwood. I am confident we will be up for the game next week. Need the Hawks to fall away a bit though. They look fit and strong so far.

So much hope (delusion?) in this thread. Hawks again have started like a house on fire.

We are Hawthorn’s perfect match up - they will go to town on rebounding our long bombs inside 50 and torch us with their speed through the corridor.

Could get really ugly

Maybe the reason to be hopeful is that most of our losses were to teams we played into form, while the Hawks are looking like premiers in waiting. Back to the tough schedule we (sort of) thrived on.

True. When we play well like the last quarter yesterday we have the fast rebounds coverered too. I am expecting more 4th qtr yesterday action next week.

For 4 quarters, or learn to kill off a quarter if our boys bodies are not up for 4.

Every team we've played have played their best line up, for bottom teams, or played the opp when they're in form....or we played them into form :sly:

A Hawks loss, after leading all day then losing in the last minute, has now made it hard for then. We stay in even if they beat us.

We have to start winning eventually. Every week we play one brilliant qtr where no-one touches us then 3 qtrs of shit. Only if we can turn that into multiple qtrs.

I've calmed down now.
Watched the GWS Hawks game. Watched ours .

IN: Carroll Cowan Young
OUT: Cerra Cottrell Motlop

SUB: Carroll

Hawks are quick, and run ahead of the ball.
Newcombe is their engine, and fire starter. Cincotta for him.
Add Worpel and Nash, who are confident in their ability, and we have to get ball first.

I haven't seen them live this year, but on TV their game starts from their big ruck man Meek.
He's huge. 110 kg?? Not as big as Cox thank god.
Pitto only one standing to take on the task.

I want to see Young ruck, but also want him for height in the backline.
Don't want Weitering wasted on Chol.

For me, Kemp to start forward as the 3rd tall, and becomes 2nd tall if Harry roams further afield or in the ruck.
And who knows if Charley will play? He's carried an ankle issue for months.

Hoping everyone who was poor yesterday will grow some balls.
Running players need to run and help each other for 4 quarters or 3. We know we can.

Kennedy must play mid now Cerra out
I want to add a good lockdown backman who is also quick in Cowan. He covers Kemp for offensive play.

Of course we can win this.
We are playing well below our best, but we are still in our bad games with a sniff.
Something is going right, and who knows how to take that last quarter. We nearly won the game off one quarter.

Carlton by 20 points.

agree jim ... they'll be flat after the 4th qtr fadeout. all their run stopped. they looked tired, and now they gotta fly back and do it all again against us.

if we can hold on in the 1st half, we got a show. we're just playing such disappointing footy. no dare or invention. we kinda deserve everything we are getting at present.

HB:Newman Young Saad

Foll: Pitto Hewett Walsh
C : O.Hollands Cripps Acres

HF: E.Hollands McKay Cincotta
F: Kemp Curnow Fogarty

I: Cowan Owies Cowan Kennedy
S: Carroll

Kemp goes to CHF if McKay rucks
Young to go into ruck, before Harry and Kemp can relieve for him in backline.
Leaves Martin as the 3rd tall, or 2nd tall during rotations.

Rest is obvious.

All of a sudden with the Hawks bottling it today, if we can somehow get some form back and win this, it all but guarantees a top 8 spot.

Talking from an energy point of view. We will run out the game better next week again. I sensed the Hawks energy was/is on a downward trend after a big month. I am positive ours is on the up. We should beat them and win the next 3.

My working theory is we are at the Carlton v Port (AO game) level of energy this week coming off a big last quarter against the pies (GC game).
I see us doing more of that last quarter stuff from last night for longer against the Hawks.

Until they lose their final round match vs the Lions at the Gabba. Or possibly the week before against Sydney.

My thoughts. Don't care whether we scrape into the 8 or not. Season is over and it's hard to see where the improvement is going to come from in years to come. It feels like this list has peaked

I think this entire season's been too weird to go making big calls like that just yet.

I know you’re big on the training loads and energy levels club29. Genuinely interested in what you base this on?
