Season is shot

Had to win tonight

Cripps deserves better. He was enormous.

Team is too stagnant. Looked better when we took the game on. Was too late.

List is ordinary. Too many passengers.

We have soft players and the opposition know it. They bully us to the extent it’s become embarrassing and even a young North did it to us. When players such as McGovern, either win the hard ball and stand up to the opposition thuggery or be replaced by someone that won’t take sh1t, is when we will progress. How we let Naicos mouth off so much and walk off the ground standing is an indictment on this group. We don’t tackle with force, we don’t put our head over the ground ball and we get pushed of the ball with ease. Watch the game again and you’ll see the culprits. I don’t have to name them, if you’re honest within yourself. All in full vision tonight.

We're back to having hardly any good players to choose from again. It'll be Binns & Carroll probably.

Hopefully Zac Williams returns.
Kennedy can start next week and Binns or Carroll can be sub.

Cincotta the only one. And he kept the game from blowing out with tremendous efforts before our stupid comeback.

Btw - loved Kemp and Ollie’s games tonight. Martin and Elijah are all class as well.

Great effort by gov to even mark the thing. He got a knee to the back of the head in the process, which definitely could have affected his shot. In defence of the others who didn't step up to take the shot, it's possible they didn't know he was possibly concussed/groggy/enter favourite assessment here. Let's not get obsessed with a moment that shouldn't have been left to one player at the death.

I agree that Kennedy should have started. I really thought they should have Owies as sub as an impact player and in the inevitability (wrong, it turns out) that Martin would get injured again. Kennedy is one of our few players with a decent football brain, and also has a bit of mongrel.

It was a great effort at the end, considering we were undermanned - DeGoey going down evened it up a bit but I thought they were set to run away with it. However, once again we relied a little too much on the skipper. Sometimes it feels like other teams (especially the Filth) have a system and we have...Crippa.

Having said that, I was and am filthy (in its normal sense with a small f) that we screwed this up. We needed to send a message to the competition and our long suffering supporters that we're serious contenders, and we had every intent of spoiling the sickening 400-fest (I don't care how good he is - just stop it already). So glad I was not at this game. Kudos to you who braved the chess-shaded cesspool and almost got to wave some blue in their smug dentures.

No need to repeat that this is a huge setback but I'm still hopeful that we'll limp into the finals and build enough momentum with the right side and some luck with injuries to give it a shake. It's very much up for grabs, as Sydney proved today, and this week's winning formula can be next week's poison. Who had Port sitting pretty right now? We're way off it at the mo but I think we're still capable when we click. The overweight opera spectacle hasn't even had breakfast yet and her car might not start tomorrow morning but the sun will shine and we'll do our best to scrub the memory banks and go again. Won't we?

Go Blues. Again. And again... Get off the swings. Head to the roundabouts. And so on. Time for my medication now...

WTF has happened is anyone’s guess.

Supposed premiership contenders a mere weeks ago and now in complete and utter disarray. Season gone. Might sneak in to finals. Might.

Giving us nothing to trust, believe or or get behind.

No standards. Mentally fragile.

What leadership?

GAGF you bunch of cauliflower.

Couldn't have said it better.
I went to the game, didn't expect to win but at least I thought we would have a crack.
Those first 3/4 were embarrassing.
Fancy kicking 8 behinds before we finally got a goal.
As it turned out we could have pinched the game.
Seriously, we have a recent Brownlow medalist the last 2 Coleman medalist. A couple of 1st picks and plenty of talent.
What the hell has happened in the last 6 weeks?
After the Bulldogs game I called it that we wouldn't make the 8.
What a waste of a season.

We're getting a bit of a habit this year of making little cameos at the end & nearly pinching games.

The first Geelong match, GWS in Sydney, & now this.

And there's always an Acres goal in the comeback

Yeah, those games came to mind.

Just tells me we love it when the pressure's off. Haven't got what it takes to see it through.

We do. It's like last year when we had an injury crisis & were for all money, out of the running for the 8. Then started playing better.

The side needs a few lessons in self motivation.

Well beaten for 3 quarters but was better in the last.
Small consolation.

He has had a few $hit the bed moments.

Personally i don't believe we should've ever been that close but to have a small chance and for a bloke who consistently calls for handballs outside 50 to choke it up like that. Pretty standard.

You're a real arsehole, you probably know that though.

I'd prefer us putting up a fight than getting smashed.
Obviously I'd prefer we didn't have to.
Saad extremely disappointing tonight, avoided contests, overran everything.
This loss doesn't hurt me that much, not sure why, I'm kind of glad I'm coping better than many others.
Win the next three please.

Yeah I'm still glad we put up a fight too, rather than go down by 5 goals which is how it was looking.

The % might end up being important also

We started rushing players back who had missed a chunk of the season and we lost our run. Some were ok to bring back but Cerra and Cottrell were 2 too many. There's a difference in the side that smashed Geelong and now. Even Walsh missed his pre season and a chunk of the season. Was great for a while but now it's caught up. Went conservative at selection with half fit tried and true rather than playing fit players. Could well cost a season

Yep it's a bit like all these injuries over the years have left us chasing the perfect squad when we can finally get it.

As a supporter I've had that mentality I must admit.

Surely Cerra we just park for the rest of the year now. Get him right for 25 & see what we can learn about his injury management from this season.

Voss needs to have a good look at himself here is a coach who came out and said I will pick players who are performing well in the VFL so what does he do brings in a player who played 1 full game for the year with absolutely no form at all
Then move on to the sub Kennedy was probably our best player last week so he rewards him let’s make him sub Voss as a coach is clueless
The rot started when he constantly played fantasia when he didn’t perform for weeks which has set the standards for the year
It is just a typical Carlton year promise so much but produce stuff all
