Don't have the midfield or coach to win anything... a mid table team that occasionally plays above themselves

Jokes on me for getting sucked in...

Maybe H really was sick and not concussed because that surely wasn't a game plan designed around his absence. Baffling and completely unacceptable.

Weitering is statistically the best one-on-one defender in the competition at the moment, losing just 7.5% of his battles, but the rest of his teammates, lose 31.7% of one-on-ones, ranked second last across the competition.

Harry trained well during the week.

Vossy said at his presser

“He had a great week, he got through all the training sessions and everything. He was ill and couldn’t play,” Voss said.

Thanks Effes

Incredible disparity.

I miss Liam Jones ... but feel we can cover him if the mids bring their defensive game to see our team defense at its best.

We must roll up our sleeves to finish top 4. From there, a weeks break may set us up for a win in the first week, and another rest before the Prelim.

When was the last time we presented something to the oppo coaches box that they weren’t expecting?

Our reluctance to change anything material when not playing well and plan a is not working is a major frustration.

yeah, exactly. add in how many times we're up and running until HT and the other coaches box makes adjustments and leaves us for dead.

coaching hasn't been spectacular this season, that's for sure. team selections have been worrisome too.

And so say all of us.

I wish we knew why they didn't make the moves we think are obvious. Think not know.
Only alternate, surprising move Ive noticed is Cincotta the tagger.

I reckon removing Cincotta from his tagging role at half time took Port by surprise . Couldn't believe there luck . That one sure shook "em up .

There are a cast of 1000's in the box not just Hansen.
Surely as a collective they can be proactive

Port created the issue and we didn't adapt. They took Butters out of the midfield and we left Cincotta in there. Cincotta stayed in for a number of centre bounces picking up whoever was in there (Rozee, Drew). I don't think we've got the midfield structure right. Cerra has been slow to find his form but he still had 7 clearances, 14 contested possessions and an equal team high 3 centre clearances against the Dogs. He's hardly seen the midfield since. He attended a couple of centre bounces in the 2nd quarter when we were firing and that was it.

Against Port we were being spanked in the middle. When Port kicked to an 8 point leads late in the last quarter, we'd lost the last 5 centre clearances. We lined up with Cripps, Hewitt and Walsh. The same set up that had been beaten comprehensively.
We need to change things up. If we're going to play Cerra at half back, I'd like to see him and Saad go into the midfield rotation from half back. We need more dynamic movement and Saad supplies that. When we win clearance, we're usually coming out sideways. When the oppo win it, they run around our blokes and are squaring up to the leading options.

It's not a throat cutting exercise yet but we need to get it right soon. Harry back will make a big difference. TDK is coming along leaps and bounds as a centre clearance weapon. Martin and Acres will toughen us up and William's class will be a strength. Maybe move Walsh out to the wing or the high half forward role he dominated last year if he's sore.
Cottrell plays a role well at half forward but he's not a 4 quarter wingman.

Get back to pressure football. I'm over seeing players dropping off their opponent to free up Cripps. If he can't beat his man, move him out of the middle. Look at Ports first goal on the weekend. Hewitt drops of Wines at a half forward stoppage to wrestle Drew, in an effort to free up Cripps. Wines waltzes off unattended, wins the clearance, gets a couple of handball receives and hits up a forward for an easy goal.
Everyone has an opponent and they should be accountable for them.

He might be saying that his selective stats are not the be all to end all. That there's other considerations than one stat?

Must be a quiet week at SEN. Carlton fans tired of reacting to the negative reporting. Click Bait. They know Carlton fans are suckers for reacting to anything Carlton.

Maybe Cerra to the backline was a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul? I felt we got a lot of drive from Cerra in ther first quarter v Port. After that, Cerra was no longer a key driver from HB. Cerra as a mid is far more experienced and reliable than Carroll. Carroll's been omitted this week.

Looks like Cincotta and Boyd will be playing back this week releasing Cerra to play mid. hopefully. If Cincotta follows Nick Daicos everywhere, we may lose Cincotta from HB. What then?

Quote:
Meanwhile, the 13.5 points per game Carlton is giving up from an opposition's centre clearances is again the second worst of any side in the League behind only North Melbourne (15.9 points).

The Blues have appeared to be rotating fewer bodies through the midfield group to rectify such issues in recent weeks. Cripps, George Hewett, Walsh and Jack Carroll are the only players to have started 10-plus centre bounces in the last fortnight.

Meanwhile, Alex Cincotta has had more centre-bounce involvements than regulars including Adam Cerra, Elijah Hollands, Matt Kennedy and Lachie Fogarty across the last two matches.

But while finding the right formula currently remains a mystery for the Blues, pinpointing that mix could be crucial to the side's hopes of rebounding from this disappointing stretch and emerging as a premiership contender once more.

https://www.afl.com.au/news/1184586/blue-funk-the-history-carlton-must-overcome-to-challenge-for-flag

I thought Cincotta's tackling when playing mid was a feature, but we still leaked scores from stoppages.
