Young was the least of our issues Friday night

but he was an issue.

there were times he wasn't competitive and looked scared. that handoff in the middle from a centre bounce, he was away, just had lift his eyes downfield and kick it to advantage.

instead he had a big look at what was coming (hint: no one) and he dropped the ball cold, they got it and the ball went the other way for a score.

I'm not judging him on ruck work

Cost us 4 or 5 goals through his timidness
Got in Charlie way a few times.
Doesn't hit the contest
Panics when he has the ball
Ineffective in the ruck.

He may not be the only reason we lost but he was the No 1 contributor to the loss

Bigger contributions to the loss
-, Midfield not being able to get clearance (despite often having in their hands)
- tackles - need to stick more
- need more run & carry. We often kick too soon or if trying to handball chain we do too many (usually giving back to the guy who was hot)
- F50 entries (always an issue) bombing long instead of spotting up players. If Charlie is double teamed we should have loose guys elsewhere and should have a tactic to play through whoever's opponent is zoning off.
- Q1 we went helter skelter and earned plenty of chances but needed to cool the jets for finishing off ( which we did in Q2)
- Kemp I like but he dropped a bunch of marks where he'd done well to compete but the ball consistently spilled to them close to goal
- Speaking of Kemp, playing him undersized (again) on Esava does us no favours. Should have been switched with Young from the start.
- Ollie I lost count of his direct turnovers
- We are playing a territory game which partly explains the bombing long etc but this relies on pressure applied to keep it in and hold the territory. If we can't apply pressure we need to revert to possession game but we're not good at that so we need the pressure.

Harry comes in to help out Charlie in the forwardline playing KPF.

Who helps Weitering in the 2nd KPD role?

210 cm Cox v Weiters
195 cm McStay v Kemp? Gov? Marchbank?

What if McStay plays from the gold square and Cox roams around 25-30 out?

Cox is a worry for me: Moran kind of worry.

what's worse right now is, the mids aren't putting the work into the middle to disrupt the ball coming into their F50. so the defense is chasing it's tail.

crazy how bare the vfl cupboards are too. we have no one. for both mids and defenders. lol and forwards.

Time for the big bodies to roll up their sleeves in the middle and get dirty: Cripps Hewett Kennedy and Cerra

I really don't want Walsh in the midfield group. Too easy target to catch and jump on.

Play Walsh on the outside, starting from HF ( pref) or the wing. He can't help himself go for the dirty ball when its there. The less back smashing on Walsh, the better.

If its on a wing, then Acres is on the other.

Coaches can work out what to do with the running machunes, Cottrell and Ollie.

I'm not sure it's that unusual. How many AFL ready players do you want waiting in the VFL? If we had a few (on AFL money) there'd be calls to get rid of them to free up salary. Injuries are the main concern.

Young is the scapegoat this game whether he plays or not... Kemp second favorite... lol

Meanwhile I'm more worried about N. Faicos breaking the all time possessions world record

Our biggest issue is the midfield... not just clearances but the lack of team defence when we don't have the ball... it's embarrassing how easy we get carved up between the arcs.

it is. and for it to round 20, and it's been happening all season long with no improvement, is the most worrisome aspect.

dead last in scores allowed from stoppage and metres given up from stoppage.

that just isn't any kind of flag credentials.

Not a chance. Cinc will stop him. It's everyone else that's the worry.

It’s only Sunday and I’m already a wreck. I just can’t see us snapping out of our rut. These pricks are relishing destroying our season again.
