Carroll as sub you’d reckon.

The non-selection of Boyd is interesting. I hope it doesn’t mean Cerra in defence again.

Actually I wouldn’t be surprised if Walsh is a late out, Boyd comes into the 22, and Cerra plays midfield.

Cerra will play H/B again listening to Voss' presser. He appeared happy with Cerra's game. Equal game high 10 intercept possessions would be appealing to them I'd suggest. Perhaps it's a way to get some work into him without the high level midfield running. I personally like him in the middle but spots are scarce at the moment.

I'm a bit surprised Binns didn't get a gig ahead of Kemp. With Marshall out, I'm not sure we need the extra defender.

FWIW, these are the changes from the last time we played Port (round 12, six goal win):

In - Cerra, Cottrell, Cunningham, Motlop, Pittonet
Out - Acres, Boyd, Fantasia, Williams, TDK

I wonder if Acres being out and not Ollie played a part in Binns non selection?

Binns and Ollie patrolling the wings, very inexperienced.

As always, I’m very worried about this game. Sore bodies, tight turnaround, not in much form.

Hoping like hell we bring the heat and heaps of pressure and intensity.

Watching the replay, Cerra was actually pretty decent, positioned himself well. Think I might have been carrying over some frustration at his previous weeks' efforts and underrated him at first.

Really looking forward to the game. We've been flat for 3 weeks & at some point something's gotta give. No better time than a Friday night against a visiting side!

Can we really still win the Premiership without TDK??

Its going to be tough, pending other future injuries we might get. He is the one player apart from Curnow that we could ill afford to lose :(

You forgot Weiters. and Cripps for that matter.

hmmm... just heard with walsh, he's hurt his back. no idea how bad. but when you hear those words, our season flashes before our eyes.

maybe his downturn in form the last 3-4 weeks is back related?
He got what I assume was a huge knock, came off for a little while the last in a lot of pain initially.

They were continually jumping into his back at stoppages.

clarkson really is a piece of shit.

No doubt you could see the Clarkson effect coming out, North players often continued on in the play with knees and elbows. The AFL are all over the hard tackles I reckon the falling on players with knees, body, elbows is far more of a concern as there is a real intent to hurt. To me this really stood out against North. They make it look clumsy but it was obvious what their intent was, several sore bodies from it.

how come the players are all smiles and chatting with the oppo after the game if they’re doing dog acts during the game?

No way Hewitt sub. Hewitt is a strong support in the midfield. Would rather Kennedy if anyone, as he goes missing a lot.

yeah me too. hewett made a big difference to our mids. he just extracts the ball and doesn't ever drop off a tackle. he's that little bit of starch we need.

For sure . Was our best player in the first half against North . I would go as far to say that he kept us within striking distance to North . Best shutdown player in our side if not the whole comp . Glue , starch , sorta the same thing . George knits things together . Just love the way George goes about things .

100% Agree. Without George we would have smashed in the 1st half. Left him out for 2 weeks and our defensive pressure in the middle went with him

We would have won one, if not both, of the previous two games if George had played.

Libba wouldn’t have had time to throw the ball out so often with Hewitt in the guts.

he’s sprayed a few kicks more recently. maybe he’s bruised and banged up and coaches think it’s time for a run in twos and get him back for finals if we play them?

Give a bunch of guys this week off.
Then they have 4 weeks to play. Then another week off. Then one week on, then one week off, then two weeks... and we've got the flag.

Cowan - Marchbank - Young
Saad - Kemp - Newman
Binns - Cripps - O. Hollands
E.Hollands - Curow - Fogarty
Owies - McKay - Motlop
Pittonet - Hewett - Carroll

Cerra - Cunningham - Cottrell - Kennedy
sub: Martin

Ready to return the week after: McGovern, Acres, Walsh, Weitering, Fantasia... Martin into the 22?

So you want us to lose this week

No. It's a moot point given the selections, but this team could beat Port.

I hope their leading forwards shout "into my arms!" when he's got the ball

yeah positionally he was good and got plenty of ball ... it was what he did with the ball that cost us (at times).

he's also not overly ferocious with the tackle, something you want from a defender. boyd tackles well. but boyd's 1-wood is his kicking efficiency off either foot, and that has been way down thru our slump.

I think being worried about the game is a better state of mind for us supporters, given the last few weeks!
I was feeling really good about the games against GWS and the Bulldogs…
