Who would you have as sub? It can't be Hewett. TDK as sub is no way to treat a player who's exploding. Pitto as sub seems pointless if we're trying something different. Williams?

If Kennedy wasn't injured he would be sub based on what Vossy has said about good players rotating the sub role. I'm confident Boyd will get off and Cincotta will be doing his thing with an opponent.

I would think its the turn of one of the 4 small forwards to be sub. Prior to last week it was Durdin, Durdin (implies its possible players can be sub 2 weeks in a row), Carroll, Carroll, Durdin, Durdin, Hewett, Kennedy, Binns, Carroll, Carroll, Owies, Fantasia. Based on that, my guess would be Owies or Fantasia this week.

My thinking is TDK is always in the picture when fit, as ruck or 3rd tall forward, and I'm confident he will continue his good form in the ruck.

I believe Vossy will want to integrate the 2 rucks sooner rather than later, to build cohesion before Finals, which is what TDK and Pitto were working on in the preseason, and, prior to Pitto getting injured against the Swans. What I'm sure of is Vossy wont re introduce the 2 rucks in the Finals for the first time since the Swans game. Their reintroduction will be well before Finals if he chooses to go that way. We will see.

Last time against the Giants, TDK proved to be a handful for their backs kicking 3 goals, and with Sam Taylor, again, not playing, they will be exposed with their 3 tall backmen being Aleer 194cm, Buckley 195cm, Himmelberg 193, and Idun has played back too and he's 193cm. It's a good time to have Pitto play Briggs at the start of quarters. I love TDK being fresh to play in the ruck, after Pitto gives the big opposition ruck a work over, which in effect allows TDK to keep presenting as an extra mid.

Pitto playing ruck 40% for 3/4ers doesn't stop that, and he's proven when he rucks its not to the detriment of our turnover game. Like I said, its an option I am sure the 2 rucks will continue to be looked at by the MC.

Carlton are the AFL's best running machine, even if Owies or Fantasia are sub.

What is going on??
Usually, oppositions’ best players return just in time to play us. Last few weeks, it’s been the opposite. The footy gods are smiling on us at the moment.
As usual this year, I’m confident but nervous… :-D

It's a real tough one, the 2 ruck thing. The evidence suggests we are simply a better team when we play only 1. I still think it's s horses for courses proposition. Teams seem to get on top in the middle when Harry goes in there. Having both Pitto and TDK playing eliminates that. But we look top heavy when we go this way.

I think sides that have a genuinely solid 2nd ruck will be the 2 ruck option. Does GWS have this? Don't think so. I'll back TDK's athleticism v Briggs and let Harry give him a rest each quarter.

Surely Boyd gets off.

For mind, Out: Pitto and Kennedy

In: TDK, Hewett into 22 and Motlop/ Cunningham/ Carroll/ best form as sub.

Kennedy mentioned as a test this week but you’d think they’d give him a week off given Hewett is a like for like replacement from the sub role

Taylor and Kelly are two of Giants best 3 players. Both are jets. Good week to get them low on confidence and blues up and about. Should put them away early. TDK to dominate as sole ruck.

Over the past few years we’ve been identified as the team where a side can bring back their returning injured players - comforted by the knowledge that we’re the ideal side to ease returning players back in for an easy game.

Not anymore.

If it is taking this long is that a good or a bad sign?
I would have thought this would be a pretty quick decision. Either way.
