This was supposed to be our 'easier' period.... Gold Coast, Essendon*, Geelong (none of whom was meant to be any good) and Richmond with the Bulldogs who also are supposed to be rubbish in and then Norf... and then Port at home in a roughly 8 week period: 7/9 very winnable games.
As it turns out the only 'easier' run we'll get is for the last 3 weeks against Hawks, Eagles & the Saints. And the Hawks are going well and who knows how the Saints will be by that stage?

The reality is there are not many "easy" games in today's AFL

By the last few rounds the teams not in finals contention don't have much to play for.

3 of the next 4 weeks are against Essendon**, Geelong and GWS in Sydney. When the @#$%&! does it actually get easier.

They’re all mid table teams. 3-0 coming up

I think we will get Essendon* and extract revenge on Geelong ( the orange sock hoodoo has to end sometime) GWS in Sydney is a different proposition

Well, except for the Kreuzer/Reid Perpetual Trophy.

Here's the thing. I'm not really feeling it. I'm sure I will on game day but I haven't had strong feelings of bile for this mob literally for years.

In recent times it's been back to the old school & it's just been all about Collingwood. And before that, Richmond when they were good. Essendon* simply haven't been good enough for me to notice them (& I still don't think they are). I imagine we've probably been the same for oppo supporters for most of this century.

Seriously the last time I felt major rivalry vibes with them was in the 2000s, when I worked with an old Bomber bloke who hated us nearly as much as he loved his own club.

At this point it's a bit meh for me. More thinking about us than them, & how we'll benefit from the 10 day break.

Yeah, until they become a worthy adversary it's all just pantomime, but I'll still go in two-footed every time.

The joy I receive from Essendon* and Collingwood losing isn’t replaceable.
The joy I receive from beating both is only rivalled by us winning finals.

I'm sure I'll get the feeling back when the ball is bounced. But I'll cross that bridge when I come to it

If you need a reason, listen to their 'call and response'

"ESSEDON"
"BOMMAHZ"

Chant.
