I honestly don’t know where to start.

Huge error starting Kennedy as sub.
Fantasia being bought straight back in, is now becoming embarrassing for Voss.
Hewitt and Cripps are making us too slow in the middle. Took Walsh out of the game and she was all over.
I’m not sure what Cottrell’s role is, but whatever it is - it’s not working. He just doesn’t do enough. 0 tackles and under 10 possessions………oh yes he kicked a goal!!!
6 bottom tacklers for the game with 0 next to their name, where Carlton players. 3 are our forwards!!
The last 2 pieces of play - Harry’s forward entry and Cerra’s attempt to win the ball before Naicos made us bleed - where cringe worthy.
How we lost by 6 points is beyond comprehension.
Some might say effort is there but I still don’t feel we are playing with 100% desire. It feels like we don’t want it enough and the last play displayed how easy someone can break our lines by putting their head over the ball and winning it.
If Voss doesn’t make the appropriate changes, Melbourne will do the job on us next week and it might be time to turn off.

I've calmed down a bit but I'm gutted, none the less. I don't rate armchair experts (the show) and never watch it but happened to be on when I got home. Very interesting footage of the final Daicos goal. Cerra was in standing goal side defensive sweeper. Got sucked up to the contest and missed it. Walsh had Daicos and as Cerra went to the contest stopped to watch. In the second he took his eye off him, Daicos took off, the ball got tapped into his arms and Walsh was nowhere near him. Game over in the blink of an eye. Walsh and Cerra. 2 of our best players blew it by not paying attention to the most dangerous player on the ground.

In the end, their class got us and we let it happen. Pendlebury nails it from 50. We played off him and almost dared sidebottom to give it to him. You'd think we'd learn that you don't let class players have a shot from 50 after we did the same with Tex 3 weeks ago.

Then Hill and Daicos nailed snaps from tough shots. Shots that we simply don't have any players capable of kicking.

3 class finishes told the difference. As galling as it is

A fraudulent performance on so many levels. Take the margin and opponent out of it, that was complete rubbish from us tonight. We had about 6 good players across the field. Fantasia and Durdin are beyond a liability at the moment. And then there’s Young. Williams with one of the most negligent games you’ll see from an experienced player on 800-900k. Unfortunately we’re heading in the wrong direction and it gets no easier with Melbourne and Sydney to come. Very disappointing.

My take on Young playing tonight ahead of Kemp was to cover Cox. Being the tallest defender we have I thought that may have been the case. That probably won't happen again.
Small forwards (or lack of) .... don't get me started on that. Just not 'A' grade quality ...... perhaps Martin but 2 games a year doesn't cut it.
Yep Melbourne and Swans to follow. We beat both teams in the finals last year and they're both chomping at the bit to return the favour with interest. A good few weeks ahead.

PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
Jordan De Goey Groin Test
Josh Eyre Hamstring 3-4 weeks
Dan McStay Knee TBC
Tom Mitchell Foot Test
Oscar Steene Toe 12 weeks

and I've never heard of 2 of those.

Voss in his presser was realistic and upbeat. Great to hear!
Martin, Marchbank and McGovern to return next week.

We need Martin and Motlop back desperately. Durdin and Fantasia offer next to nothing

Let's hope so, even though hope is not a strategy.

Forgot about Marchbank, thought he was still 1-200 weeks away. Can't imagine we'd want to bring all 3 straight back in but with Williams out and Young and Fantasia looking in bad nick we might just have to roll the dice

I still don't know what those pressure rating numbers mean but I could sure as hell see that pies were off the charts and ours were nowhere.

We were totally and utterly flattered by that scoreboard.

It's a big roll of the dice. The returning players didn't exactly set the world on fire tonight

Everyone pointing to the inside 50s as the reason we lost, we had 21 more than geelong last week. Still lost.

I'm confused.

Pies had 2 extra days break.

Nobody considered this.

Could see it coming a mile away

Why on earth was Kennedy the sub?
He's had a good month.
But let's pick raz instead who's been poor for a month.

Kennedy is heart and soul.
Tough. Can play middle, back and even forward.

Crazy decision

Back to square one. Deja vu with 2023, we’re about to find out where we are over the next month. Almost the same teams coming up again too.

Bottom line: they worked much harder than us. And smarter.

PS. I’m not as critical of our backline which kept us in the game despite their overwhelming I50 dominance (except the lapses which enabled Bobby Hill and Daicos to break free and leaving Pendlebury on his own whilst falling for Sidebum’s obvious BS… but that was mostly the fault of midfielders more than backmen).

that final goal eats at me. so many things we didn't do. we select pittonet for tap dominance (yet after the 1st qtr he barely got his hands on it?) anyway, he gets outbodied and loses the ruck contest in the most feeble of ways.

walsh, amazingly stops and watches the ball , while his man gets away. cerra decides to leave his defensive position and move to the contest. daicos, literally untouched. the only guy on their team at that stoppage we need to put a body on, bursts thru and smashes a goal.

this is our 1-wood, and after the first quarter mcrae outcoached voss and beat us at our own game.

in the prematch thread someone wrote:

well that's more than half the team tonight, for real. and the entire coaching box which may as well have stayed at home bcos i didn't see too many adjustments. which is why so many people here are hot.

Need an Ed Curnow gathering soon as this can’t keep going on.

Lack of pressure and the most basic of pressure acts, the tackle and our ability to exert it, is pissing me off.
