Lachie Schultz spent two years at Williamstown after no one picked him up in the 2015 draft. He played for the Bendigo Pioneers when a third of the squad were bottom-age players. Those juniors nipping at his heels were Paddy Dow, Lachie O'Brien and Angus Schumacher. Like all clubs, we'd seen Lachie. These players are out there. What Collingwood want is a small forward who can push up the ground and bring ultra professionalism to work every day. He's a good footballer, good citizen and will get the job done. It's not too dissimiliar to Greg Wells joining Carlton in 1980. Win a flag, bring in a known-known.

This type of slight is alien in the more cultured part of the world - Walsh. Its up there with mad dogs, Englishmen and the midday sun!

We're a day in and already people are starting to wet their pants.

From a list management perspective, we're clearly planning on continuing to develop what we have.

As people have been pointing out all year we have a few areas to address:

Depth in the tall-forward area. A consistent third tall forward. Consistent small forwards. The mix in the middle - ideally, add some pace to the midfield.

In theory, most of these issues can be addressed by players already on our list.

Because there's no such place?

Note, despite some posters finding the idea of OBrien being delisted a couple months back (I explained by PM) these conversations were being heard during the year, so it wasn't absurd that a 'cheap' contracted rookie would be delisted when there was only 3 candidates for the 2 compulsory culls on the rookie list: Ed (retired), Sam Durdin (OOC) and OBrien (1 year left), and other rookies had their contracts recently extended.

We have space in the cap to wriggle a bit more than some think.
