I think it would be a very big mistake to leave Motlop out.

All i can think of is the pretty standard;

In: McKay, Martin
Out: Kennedy, Cuningham

Hollands stays sub.

Guys like Ah Chee would be too much for Motlop (size wise), bigger bodies preferred

I can see what Motlop brings but he's going to get smothered by faster and bigger bodies the Lions have got.

He's kicking goals and that's going to help things go his way in selection.

Me too, we are very solid defensively and difficult to score against.

Melbourne have a better, tougher midfield than Brisbane and our midfield beat Melbourne's (and Sydney's and Collingwood's earlier)

Don't worry about this GABBA fortress bullshit, we are in this up to our eyeballs.

They have to worry about stopping Walsh, Cerra, Cripps, Docherty, Acres etc etc and countering Weitering, McGovern, Kemp, Marchbank

How do they nullify Saad and Newman

Then we have Curnow, Mckay, Martin, Owies, Motlop they have to stop.

They will forget about Cottrell, Cincotta and Fogarty at their own peril

Then we have those units Pittonet and DeKoning smashing into them and flying over them all game

Just give us the @#$%&! cup !!

Great read gro

I think we need another quick small defender, otherwise Brisbane's small forwards will cut us up again. Reckon it would help both defensively and with rebound. I'd drop Marchbank or Kemp.

But I can't see the MC doing this.

Some mind games coming out of Brisbane, but from the footage available it seems highly unlikely Jack Payne will get up.

If he were to miss, coupled with the inclusion of Harry and Martin, that would be a huge boost to our forward line.

Totally would. He dominated last time we played them.

True. And Dunkley.
But to be fair, at that point we were pretty shite!
Brisbane are the form team IMO.
But we are up there too.
Only question is whether we have enough still in the tank.

Agree with this. Cameron, Raynor, Bailey, McCarthy are the biggest threat.

We had a week off before finals, and you could argue we didn't really get out of gear after quarter time vs GWS.

I'm not buying that excuse.

Our biggest weapon is our team system across the entire ground, if it comes down to relying on individuals only we have already lost. Let’s stick with what brought us here.

Me too.

But, given we are up against:

201cm Daniher,
203cm Hipwood
203cm Oscar ....sneaks into forwardline to swap with Daniher, every now and then, and,
193cm Gunston

That is one extremely tall forward group.

We lack tall defenders to match these KPFs, and only have Weitering as the gorilla minder.

Maybe we need the 4 mobile tall defenders to give us one who can cut across to intercept or spoil. Gov, March and Kemp can run, and do run when its their turn, and that could turn out to be an advantage if they can get the ball to Saad, Chinky and Newman.

Jones wouldve helped, and Young has lost form this year, so maybe we dont have a choice.

Yep.

There's still 4 days before the game and Payne can get up, but he wont be 100%, so I'm not expecting Fagan to take the risk id he isnt 100%. Its a bloody ankle and he hasnt been able to shake it over last 2 weeks.

That, plus the excitement and adrenalin generated after last week's win and noise levels continuing to resonate throughout the game.

Our boys know its worth not giving up and giving the the best of the Brutal Blues.

Hit 'em hard, hit 'em low, him 'em with our toughest blow.

Stating the obvious but we can win if we control the midfield and don't allow easy exits. If we do allow it out of the middle quickly(as per earlier in the year) they will score freely. I have faith this group can win the midfield battle.

I think we will keep the pressure on and I think their forwards will find it much harder than earlier in the year.
I’d be surprised if Dunkley has the same effect on Cripps again. However, they do have real strengths across the whole field so we’ll need to be at our best.
We will have a stronger team on the park than we did last week (and also than we did against them earlier in the year… which had Honey, Young, E Curnow & Durdin. And i think it was one of Walsh’s first games back and Hewett still had an injured hand).

Don't know if it's been posted earlier and whilst I'm no good with the tactical stuff, we gotta watch mccluggage. Quality player who can really carve us up.

We have to put the squeeze on their entries.

Midfield pressure is the answer to everything

Maybe someone has already thought of this and there are works in the pipeline...but if not,

I'd get the club to contact Ange Postecoglu (Carlton man) to do do a live 3 minute video cross from the UK to the boys before the game

Nothing too fancy; maybe just a reiteration of what they already know, but a pearl of wisdom and inspiration nonetheless
