Cheapest way, if it is possible with commitments, is to go Tuesday and come back later Sunday or Monday. Prices are normal then. A matter then of staying somewhere for 5 days. Still be cheaper, even with the accommodation, plus you see Brisbane.

The mental cost of spending 5 days in Brisbane outweighs the cost of flying in Saturday
Shoud have said SE Qld...haha.

Strange there's no flights departing later than 9 PM from Brisbane....their airport is to the North East of the city on the water, with flight paths out over the sea and then turning back towards Melbourne.

Is there a curfew in place?

Accommodation in Brisbane looks sparse. Hiring a car and staying Sunshine/Gold Coast might be one of few options.

I was on booking/com earlier and it said there were, like, 7 rooms available in the greater brisbane area.

Looks like even less now. 1 room left out at Cleveland. Get on it. Easy access to the train.

I actually got one at Mantra early this morning. Everything's coming up Millhouse.

Any interest in the $20 2pm pub function?

My favourite 'pub' effort was wandering back to the ground after brekky from a stint at The Depot after us 'privileged' AFL members had to queue from 3am to get a gig at the GF.

We used to park up the road then move the cars in right up to the fence near the ground when the gates opened so we could wander out to our stuff and set up a little mini camp with breakfast whilst taking turns to "mind the seats" inside.

The session at the Depot before the real action started was always a hoot!

Deckchairs and bubbly after the game right outside and no rush to go anywhere.
Those were days...

That’s really good.

There’s no way, even with school holidays, NRL and the Blues being in town that there isn’t enough accommodation. Surely. Rooms will suddenly become available at three and four times their normal price.

The Norman one is pretty much in line with the Breakfast Creek as a steak pub. Get there early and smash a steak. If you do the 1kg challenge you can have your name on the wall.

All three pub events are already sold out but the $20 Norman one would be good to attend. If anything like the $20 one on the Gold Coast a few weeks ago it will be packed.

This is what I plan to do next time (although hopefully we only have Melbourne finals going forward).

Book free cancellation tickets and accommodation for all cities we could potentially play in at the start of the finals series. :P

Can only see a sold out $300 event

There is a $20 event at the same pub. I can’t find where I saw the flyer. It’s a usual Carlton pre-game function 2-4pm. Canapés. Past players. Usually an auction. I have gone to heaps of them and normally just pay at the door. It’s definitely at the Norman. I’ll try and find the details.
