Bringing in players in Silvagni and/or Kennedy who have missed multiple games through injury worries me. Even if physically fit, they won't be match fit, neither are too quick at any time.

OUT: McKay, Martin, Motlop

Kennedy sub

We are desperate for SOS to be fit to play, and I hope he shows a bit of form if he does.
May have got through a training session on Friday, but that's different to playing.

I like the idea of either Gov or Marchbank going forward if SOS isn't selected.

Yes to all of that

What is great is our even contribution especially from the bottom 6

Anybody think Cripps Curnow Docherty McGovern Kemp will be quiet again this week

I see a lot of improvement across the whole side. Not one of players really dominated

If we were to take one from the backline to play forward it’d be Kemp for me. Could both play a defensive role on Lever or just jump on his head. Not sure what his set shots are like but they can’t be worse than Harry’s Friday night

Motlop in the starting team is a must.

4th for goals
6th for marks inside 50

imho

One might be justified but both could be too risky.
Especially with other good options (Dow, Hollands, Motlop, Boyd, Fisher)

Agree. Also 1st for tackles inside 50 (by a long way)

Can’t believe he was left out last week

Kennedy as a sub is must. We need him, if needed as another marking forward option. He’ll be fine.
JSoS is a must to support Charlie and allow TdK to float as a 3rd tall up there. He struggles as the 2nd key, but that’s ok as well.

HERE'S where things stand from a Carlton injury perspective leading into the first semi final.

Harry McKay (concussion)

- Has entered concussion protocols
- Unavailable to play this week

Jack Silvagni (knee)

- Will be a test to play this week

Corey Durdin (hamstring/shoulder)

- Experienced a hamstring strain at training last week
- Will be unavailable for the remainder of the season
- As a result, he will take the opportunity to undergo surgery to repair a shoulder issue

Big thing for me is how we deliver inside 50. Second half we got slow and bombed it inside fwd 50 and Swans picked us off. With McKay out we MUST kick it on low or even with mongrel kicks. Lower the eyes. No clear target then dribble it in and let Cottrell Owies Motlop Fogarty etc go to work. At worst we should lock it in

Watched the Jack Martin hit again. Just stupid and lacked discipline

The more I look it’s one of the other

Both can play as a taller forward. Both are tough, can mark and kick a goal. Issue is both haven’t played much. Playing both is very risky.

I would prefer we go small and get the ball in low to Charlie and a mobile small forward line. Charlie with Motlop Owies Cottrell Fogarty Cuningham can kick a winning score and importantly hold it in forward 50

Agree.

TDK for all his attributes is not the best as a KPF

JSOS may be rusty but will take a KPB off Charley and add his tackling and guts.

Therefore Kennedy no more than sub if that.

AS others have said, with Weitering, Kemp, Marchbank, and McGovern down back, that's 4 talls / semi talls.

Easy to rotate one across forward line to as 3rd tall and create a bit of confusion.

Win, lose or draw I'd love to see the crowd stay after the game and thank the players. Get a bit of a chant going.
Winning is great but I love the way they've played. No one is harder or tougher at the contest. You have to be super proud of the way the players have turned the season around with effort and application. This is the benchmark for us to go forward with.
Give me that over soft outside receivers (Essendon* footy) any day.

And Damien Barrett agrees with me

I don’t think he was trying to hit him in the head. Even crooked Chrisso thought it was careless.

He’s swung the arm to knock the ball loose & got it all wrong.

The guidelines don’t distinguish between closed fist and open hand, but an open hand is a good way to break a finger.

Martin did his job on the night which I'm going to assume was to rough up Blakey who absolutely blew us away last time.

He just went a bit too far and will take a week.

SOS yes, but big for Cunningham too. Different players but forward half work rate is what we need.

How did he go against the Dees in our win only 4 rounds ago?
Different folks, different strokes.

Have to give the Dees small defenders some attention and respect because they are capable of smothering young Motlop.

interesting how there's no interest in dropping Pitto, Marchy, Cunners, Owies, Cotters and Chinky since losing McKay & Martin i our posts.

And we are desperate for a fit and firing SOS who hasnt played footy for 5 or so weeks.

Shows the talent spread across players is not thin. The squad is sound.

Crippa is a bit tender. Pitto is lame (playing with injury) but not going to get worse.
I reckon with Hewett and when needed Kennedy (sub) and TDK there's reliable support for them.
Walsh, Acres and Doc win their own ball too.

We are in good shape. Dees are sore. They've got more issues than us.

i think dow would be in front of kennedy in the depth chart - unless something happens to hewitt or cripps. fingers crossed nothing happens to either.

hewitt is our only real tagger/ run with player we have. so if clayton or trac start getting plenty of ball, hewitt can move to one.
